Post subject:  Cancer charity cruise - sydney

Hi guys,

I would like to organise a cruise for charity, the cancer council or cancer research dept in nepean hospital as a week ago my gf's dad passed away from bowel cancer in nepean hospital and we want to do something that will raise awareness and to help assist cancer research.

I would like to run it from Bunnings in Bankstown to Wollongong, mainly because its a nice drive, but im pretty easy on any ideas you guys have from where to go. I will organise donation envelopes from the nepean hospital (we had them at the funeral but not many people realised that). We can organise a BBQ or whatever. Im open to suggestions, just want an idea of how many people would be interested.

My gf really wants to go forward with this for the memory of her dad, he was a great guy and we love him to bits, so please show your support.

WIll be good to have a nice day out and check out some nice cars and have a good drive :)

ps - will update this thread with date and time when we know whats going on . thanks

Get something concrete in place, and I'm sure there are plenty of car forums that would be willing to advertise the cruise.

Wollongong is fine. Old Pac is probably a bit too "hot" right now, with the locals chucking a massive whinge. Perhaps you could see if there's a BBQ area on the other end of Putty? Or, being for the Nepean, you could try somewhere in the Blue Mountains?

Good idea for Silvia drivers, but if you are trying to get a large group of people, you need to make sure the drive is an easy one, and the destination will be able to cope with that many cars and has a variety of food and stuff available.

Newcastle or Wollongong are always good options and meet the requirements.

Blue Mountains via the M4 should be doable for most people too.

You just need a big enough meeting point that has easy access to the M4 past the toll booths.

Have a chat with turbo_brian - his Brockie cruise went out to Bathurst via that route, and there might be something in Katoomba that fits the bill.

Isnt there an old race track out at katoomba? i remeber going to it when i was younger

Im not suggesting that we race, but there seemed to be plenty of parking when i was there

Yeah the oz mazda brockie cruise to bathurst was a bad stop in the mountains, i hit hard on getting out onto road, the dirt driveway had a hole you could park your car in
