Post subject:  Emissions tests

The EPA are forcing me to get an emissions test and there are some modifications on my S15 that make it non compliant. I have a few questions for someone who has been though a similar thing. I am aware that the car has to be less than 90db at 4800 rpm and less that 2% CO3 etc. What i am after is how thoroughly they go over the car. If i fix up the exhaust and intake will that be enough, or will I need to change out the intercooler and other illegal mods? Also does anyone know a good muffler place in the newcastle/sydney area. I want one that will pass but is as non restrictive as possible. Is a twin exhaust system the best or single, and with two smaller cats or one bigger one?

Quick replys are appreciated as i'm on a bit of a deadline

the best way would be to get your hands on factory intercooler and exhaust
trying to get a custom exhaust with less restriction will not give you a guarantee'd pass

i rkon, try and get stock parts, ie air filter/box, intercooler, entire exhaust
this way you can't get the dick for anything, cos these guys are ruthless..

funny, i just came across this guy, he's lending out some stock s15 stuff so you can pass the epa tests

Excellent, this is exactly what i'm looking for. it will save me heaps if it works out. I don't really want to change out the parts permanently as the car is running really well. I'll let you know how it works out
