i've got an S14 with bolt on mods.. i got it dynoed at 153kw @wheels on 14.9 psi on a standard turbo.. just wondering what is better getting GCG to high flow my T28 or GT28 or are they the same....? i dont wanna go too big as i dont want to get lagged to much...! if i do get it high flowed, how much should i high flow it, as my internals are still stocked...
My mates gotta 200 and when he bought it, its been decompressed already and his running 18psi without FMIC.. what exactly mean when its decompressed...? porting,shaving,o-ringed....? is it to allow more boost without pinging.......?

Get bigger injectors and fuel pump if your still running the stockies and get it tuned as there is more in the standard turbo. Also I found before tuning that running at 12psi and running 15psi there was no difference in power as the stock injectors are just too small.

i got the 153 without the FMIC...

mods: HKS dump pipe
full exhaust
cold air induction
air filter
FMIC
boost controller
platinuim laser plugs (Trust)
1999 S14 turbo
still runnning standard computer
others: gauges
lowered etc... all the go fast bits

is better to get my injectors high flowed or just spend the $$$ on a brand new 550cc's.....? does anyone know how much power i can get from these mods....? i know ECU will make a difference thats why its last...!

Well these mods,

Hybrid fmic, 600x300x90 tube and fin intercooler.
3" Exhaust from turbo back, including 3" cat and ceramic coated from turbo to cat.
Blitz dsbc spec r boost controller
600cc injectors(high flowed standard injectors from a 1998 model s14a)
Walbro 550hp intank fuel pump
Stock fuel reg, ie stock rail pressure
K&N pod filter + some heat shielding
and of course TSI ecu

Netted me 191rwkw from the standard turbo running at 14.1psi. Its cheaper to high flow standard s14 injectors than it is to buy new nismo or apexi drop in injectors. I was getting 160rwkw at the most on standard computer, standard injectors, standard pump.

Decompressing the engine can be done by installing more head gasket but that is the cheap and nasty way of doing it, some plces sell decomprssion kits that you can install yourself other wise they can do it by changing stroke length (read expensive) and by lowering the compression you can run higher boost safer.
You can whack a turbo on the side of a NA motor and run about .6 bar with out to much problems. And also if you use a high octane fuel such as avgas you can run more boost and or a higher compression

Some TSI info,

The stock computer still controls idle, knock control, open/closed loop,
and correction mapping. TSI does fuel and ignition tuning.

Fuel tuning is via direct injector control to either reduce or increase
fuel flow (using the TSI fuel map). The TSI is a hybrid engine
management system since it can either alter the factory injector pulse
duration or independently control the fuel injectors (standalone mode).
It can switch between fuel or standalone modes (with the switch over
point user set).

The main advantage of direct injector control compared to airflow meter
sensor "tuning" is whenever a fuel map change is made, the ignition
timing doesn't change (unlike what happens on <insert piggy back system
here>). There are obvious advantages in this, and it makes for much
easier and quicker tuning.

Another advantage compared to "airflow meter tuning" is that the TSI
isn't limited to what the maximum or minimum map value is inside the
factory computer, ie the TSI can control the injector to do 0-100% duty
cycle, and likewise retard or advance the timing up to 50 degrees. The
airflow meter voltage is not altered to do fuel or ignition tuning.

TSI can control low or high resistance injectors that are
same/larger/smaller(!) flow as the factory injectors (standard Nissan
injectors are high resistance).

For its load reference the TSI uses an internal MAP sensor (+22psi, or
optional external +30PSI sensor). This provides an accurate load
reference even after the factory AFM has maxed out its voltage. TSI
needs the factory airflow meter still since the factory computer still
needs it, but it has capability to run any amount of boost over the
standard ECU without causing fuel injector cut-out.

TSI: 17 load points every 500rpm up to 10,000rpm (20x17 load points)
each for fuel, ignition, and standalone maps.

Diagnostic wise it can datalog parameters like injector duration, duty
cycle, manifold pressure, air:fuel ratio, engine speed, throttle
position, airflow meter voltage. Which makes it easy to see if injectors
are getting close to maximum duty cycle.

For more information see the unigroup website which outlines the TSI
features:
http://www.unigroup.com.au/TSI.htm

Any further questions please direct to Unigroup, they will be able to
answer all of your questions.

ontop of which, i have seen s14's gain 10kw when adding the powerfc, while with the TSI it was 30kw. huge difference.

Does anyone else know a phone no. for TSI dist.

How much does it cost to fit and tuned...?

Is TSI like a Unichip but better....?

Is Launch Control Safe to the engine...?

do you have TSI...? TSI guy told me its gonna cost $1665 drive in-out...!

just wondering if anyone had a problem with TSI ecu, as they are not well known as Apexi and Microtech etc...

also if anyone had dealt with TSI and other ECU's....?

what are the main advantages and disadvantages against each other...?

Probably due to the fact no one knows how to properly tune a power fc.

I've got a TSI and I'm more than happy with it.

Just because you don't know it does it mean it's a risk. :-?

If you have further trouble contacting Unigroup also try the the TSI website: http://www.tuningsolutions.com.au

Has contact details for TSI guys who can also answer your questions.
