Has the car had an alignment with the new shocks and springs? The rings will help, but not a huge amount if you have huge power and trying to get out of first. I went from standard to full whiteline works kit and that was a huge overall difference, but that including shocks, springs, swaybars , rings and re-alignment. It reduced the hoping you talked about.

are you talking wheel alignment? if so, all is set perfect. camber and toe ok.

If your diff is fucked it will 'hop' or axle tramp. do the burnout test! 2 black lines equals good diff.

Actually the more stuffed your diff is the less you'll experiance axle tramp.

In answer to RhOmEL's original question yes the drift pinapples will help. The won't completely rid you of the problem but they should get you quite a way towards a full cure.

Did you have a 4-wheel alignment done after the springs and shocks were fitted? I know on the s14 all the wheels are adjustable for alignment and it is just as critical on the rear as it is on the front wheels? This could explain why you are having trouble putting the power down? How old is the diff on the car? I would check the chassis out thoroughly first before you look at the diff unless the transmission has done loads of distance.

the diff is 140K old. It does seem pretty tired.. always takes the car left under wheelspin.

that's pretty normal...

I used to get a bit of axle tramp till I replaced the spings with stupidly hard ones :)

diff hop - when the rear of the car bounces and shudders under wheelspin when taking off.. it's also called "axle tramp"

It's not diff related, it's related to suspension/rear subframe.
