ahh, bit of a delima..
just put rims on without considering the legal side of things, well I did sorta ( in the actual size anyway ).. I thought it was 2" in size and 2" in width..

but I found out its not ( is it 1.25" wider? or 1.75"? )

ATM I have on
16" x 7" - front
16" x 8" - rear

is the standard size
15" x 6.5" or 6"? ( they are pretty wide for a standard rim/tyre)

anyway I was speaking to someone earlier and they said if your car weighs 800kg or less, then the limit is 1.25" wider, if your car weighs more than that it puts you in the higher category = 1.75" wider

( dunno if this is true )

I hope it is, as this would mean my rims are legal
IF the standard rims are 6.5" wide and the above theory is correct..

but there is a plaque on the inside of the door with reccomended KPA pressure etc
and it says

' nissan s13'
then below
14" - ( with widths etc)
15" - ( with widths etc)
16" - ( with widths etc ) and they list 6.5" for the front and 7" for the rear

so if a cop hassles me, could I show him that plaque? surely he cannot know the correct tyre size on an imported car..

thanks if you can help!

You shouldnt have any problems with the cops unless the tyres you have on you rims are sticking out from the guard and if he goes on about it just show him the sticker i can remember the distance but yes the weight does play a factor

"the wheel track must not be increased by more than 25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model"
This is a quote from the RTA "Guidelines for Alternative Wheels and Tyres" information sheet..... This is factual regulation, not an idea...
"Vehicle Manufacturer", in the case of an import, refers to the company that complied the car.....
My tyre placard, fitted by the compliance centre, has max wheel/tyre sizes of 17x9, and 255/40/17..... this is an S13 silvia...
So, I can legally fit 19" rims, and the track(centre of left tyre to centre of right tyre) can be increased by up to 25mm.... This would allow around 275 tyres to be fitted LEGALLY.
NOTE**Check your tyre placard fitted by the compliance centre, they do vary...
