Hell yeah.

Have you ditched the entire heater/aircon system? The reason I ask is because my car used to fog up like a bastard in certain weather and get really stuffy with the windows up.

Trailer rego is actually pretty cheap at about $50 for trailers under 254kg (or $143 for trailers between 255kg and 764kg). Sure, you've got to invest in a tow car, but in the end you pay a similar amount per year as if your track car was registered. The difference is you don't go deaf or get defected while taking your car to the track and you get to relax because if you blow anything up or bend the car, you don't have to find a way home.

Oh cool, good to know that the rego is cheap.

I was talking more about the cost of the trailer itself. According to tmb, he's spent about 7K net on the nugget. Say you spend $4/5k on a road car to tow it (I know you could pay less, but everyone likes something reliable/a little bit comofrtable if they have to drive it every day), and $2k on a car trailer, the price of the track car has doubled.

I know there are other options (like hiring the trailer, keeping the track car registered etc), just going through all of them.

Sorry for the side-track. It's somewhat relevant!

2k won't get much of a car trailer i think. The minimum you would need to spend to get something decent is 3k. I'll be sticking to hiring for now.

I'll be selling the cefiro soon and buying a wagon towcar shitbox thing - probably 8-10k worth that I can use as a daily too.

On a side note - my frp bootlid is finished and weighs 2.5kg. sik

It will if you build it yourself ;)

On a completely unrelated note: Are you planning on doing polycarb windows?

Like anything you build yourself will stay in one piece! Last thing I need is the car falling off the trailer at 100km/h

Polycarb windows are expensive, hence not on the list at this stage

polycarbonate windows don't have to be expensive. all you need is a heatgun, the usual cutting tools, and originals for templates.

I'll be making my own fairly soon. if you want to chip in for part of a sheet of polycarbonate, let me know and I'll organise it.

Are you saying you don't trust my welds?
I'd be more worried about some dude getting paid bugger all who's being hounded by his boss to churn out trailers as quickly as possible. Besides - they have to be looked over before you can get them registered.
