Post subject:  question about programs needing admin rights on XP

hi all,
i got a friend who needs to run some software that needs admin rights. however she only has limited rights to the local machine.

her company policy does not allow her to have admin rights so that is out of the question. Is there anyway you can give admin rights to just that software and nothing else?

i know you can use the "runas" command however that still prompts for a password. i need it so that it doesnt prompt for a password it wil just run the program. I cant see anything with group policy that will allow me to do it either.

is there some sort of script or batch file i can use for this?

only the login script (on a domain administered machine) can run as an administrator. if youre locked out because of a GP or local rights, then there isnt much you can do unless you have a local or domain admin user. or a use with enough rights to install software

whats the bet that the GP in effect stops access to CMD :P

thats the first thing you do when you lock down a machine

yeah basically the machine is locked down by the domain group policy. hmm the domain group policy will override any local policies wont it.

they probaly havnt locked it down completely, they most likely just removed it from your start bar but you can still access it by running the executable.

they are probably smart enough (we hope) to run deepfreeze or something similar so you can do whatever you want to the machine, then it reboots and its back to where it was before :P

Nup. Run everything has been removed. Anything that gives you access. Still managed it!

so pretty much you are launching the executable :D you would think they would remove the permissions from it.

actually someones dumb, we disable right-click too to stop that. one would assume its already disabled as its right next to stopping cmd (i think)
