I've seen that before and I'm pretty sure it has a funny story behind it. I think they replaced a CA or SR non turbo with a RB30DE without measuring it up first. All bolt in, time to put the bonnet back on, and.....

The scoop was their solution.

LOL! I guess that explains it. No-one in their right mind would do that for aesthetics.

Really, RHD with what looks like NSW plates parked next to a 180.....hmmmmm. BTW i think L6...whatever, is on the money, a VG30 conversion not quite thought out all the way.

hi all, this is Richard from NZ silvia club. Yes that is one of our member's car. This memeber did a CA18DE -> RB30 engine conversion himself and since the RB30 engine is much taller than the CA18, he has a modify his bonnet a bit so that he can close the bonnet. The pic shown was taken just after he finished the engine conversion. Trust me, it's not so bad in the real life, must be my bad photo skill that exagerate the size of the scoop heeee. But anyway, he did some changes to the bonnet scoop later on and make the scoop smaller.
