Why do the RTA make Euro style plates so the fancy pieces of eurotrash don't look stoopid with little plates...

...yet owners of imports are forced to bend our plates so they fit in to their appropriate holes?

Not to mention scratching the paint trying to push the bastards on when you have just got your new plates from the RTA and can't drive home until you get them on. Forcing you to do a 'bush mechanic' on them in the carpark all while jumping out of the way of nervous L platers?

or you can get a 5 character plate which fits perfect. $170 for the privilege, but at least you get to pick what it says.

I'm beginning to think that anything related to cars in this country are purposely designed to discourage importers/modifiers like us. Speedhumps which were mentioned earlier i can't park anywhere defects just for having a pod filter its a joke. I think we have to have a good long cup of tea with carl scully or whoever is moulding the driving environment into what it's becoming

I didn't even know that number plates would be such a problem i was thinkin of changing mine...

now you know what being in a minority is all about. import cars are unimportant in the grand scale of things,as more barinas are sold each year than there are silvias driving around in all of Australia.
who cares about 1% of the motoring community? the RTA doesn't have to. as long as you pay your rego fees, pay for your license, and then pay for your ill-fitting plates anyway, they're not going to care.

nothing will happen until there are enough pissed off import owners to change the balance of power in an election. it's as simple as that.
people in power don't act unless their own well-being is threatened.
while it's someone else having a problem,and they're not affected,they couldn't care less.

No.

But I am pretty sure they have to be two letters followed by three numbers (AB-123).

ALL custom plates now attract an annual fee. including stuff like [NOT51K] or [HOT13B]...

I guess they finally worked out it was costing them income to let these sort of 'custom' plates slip by with only a one-off fee... oh well.
