yeh double demerits sucks, cost me my licence in dec but i drove/rode the whole 3 months and didnt get caught(a few RBT's had me shittin my pants though!) then 2 weeks after i got it back i got done twice! it was actually lucky in a way cos i was doing 30 over but i didnt exceed the limit by MORE THAN 30 so it was $157. the cop actually sed "ur lucky, 1 km more and it would have been serious" so there u have it there IS such a thing as safe speeding, straight from the pigs mouth!!!!!!

Yeah i am fucked but the worst part is the $1447 fine.

I don't really care about losing my licence for a couple months it's more the $$.

I was just going to buy a boost controller

Also don't you cop an extra $50 on top nowadays if you don't pay your fine within 2 notices??

Hi dude,
I was in a similair situation, getting done on the Australia Day holiday for a similair speed. I took it to court and had my license loss reduced from 6 months to 3 months, and the fine was reduced from 1447 to 558. So there might be hope yet. But one thing the Judge said that stuck in my head was "No matter what your reason you shouldnt have been speeding". Hope this helps. PM if you have any questions.

PS: New to forums just saying hi :D

Damn Double Points, Im still on bloody Good behaviour until next May, got done on Australia day, doing 70 in a 50 zone. Only 20 over but was sitting on6 points already.
Wrote a letter tried to get off, didnt work, so they then started my good behaviour from the 11 may

Now if only they were out there catching the proper criminals and stop dicking round with picking people up in industrial areas

I have no idea if this is true but someone told me that when you pay the fine if you write a cheque for $2 over what you are actually meant to pay they have to send you back a refund for the $2...The "supposedly" if you dont bank this $2 the fine doesnt get processed until you bank it...

and I dont know jack cause ive never been caught :P

last night i heard a statistic that 70% of money from fines is never collected..... i think thats...... false

I've had my P Plates for a week and I lost 3 demerit points last night + $197 fine  (Only have 4 to play with  )

Got done for exceeding speed over 15km/h
My mate also got done for exceeding speed not more than 15km/h but he only lost 1 point for that.

The cop said he gave me a lesser charge and said I was 30km/h over which I might have been...
"Get this car home, if I see it again, I'll go right through it and put it off the road"
"I don't wanna see hoodlams in town like you...GO"

My questions are how should I handle this?
Should I pay the fine and take a chance on that overpaying thing and hope it doesn't get properly processed?
Should I delay it as much as possible and take it to court?
What happens if I don't pay it?

Any help appreciated

Also, when do I get my points back and if I did happen to lose my license in the future, how long do I lose it for and when I get it back, do I get all my points back?

Did the cop have a radar or estimate your speed?

You might aswell pay the fine and just drive carefully until you get your green P's. I'm pretty sure you get more points with that.

XYGTHO should be able to help you if you want to take it to court but I haven't seen him post for a while.

Just make sure you pay the fine quickly as they add $50 every month or so. My fine was $1447 and is now over $1500 because I didn't have the money to pay it.

He estimated. He said he was doing 80 behind me and I was pulling away from him. He estimated me at 84km/h.

Yeah, on green p's you get 6 points I'm pretty sure and on red you have 4 to play with!

Well if he estimated you might have a chance in court, but do you reckon it's really worth it over 200 odd dollars and 3 points?
