Well I like Snezy would like to get the Boomerang alarm for my car, but just can't warrant $1100 for my car at its current state.

I was looking into a BRANT alarm (the one WRX's have factory) with all the options for about $650.

What do you guys recommend? Would the boomerang warrant a discount with insurance or only a tracker system?

Probably not you would need to ask your insurer. As for alarms they are all pretty good these days but a tracker is definatley a deterent for any scumbag.

Not really anymore, they just use a sheilded blanked and the tracker signal can't get out or any signal in.

Yeah... it woult stop those ameteurs, but I am not so worried about them, cause all you have to do is something custom and they are out of the picture.

Its the professionals you want to worry about, but then again my car wont even be noticed by them yet.

im not going to claim expertise with alarms cause ive never owned a car worth stealing but mayhem's example is a good one,
all i know is that when youre planning your security system, be creative and try to think of things a thief will take a few minutes to figure out.
high tech doesnt always save your bacon and every second counts in the panicing mind of a thief.
sometimes simple things can mean the difference between them getting your head unit (except if she's chained to the firewall!) and them getting the whole kit & kaboodle.

p.s. how many car thieves will remove a head unit only to find its chained and padlocked and STILL continue? less than all and thats all you need.

Exactly  My mate has a very custom alarm and security sysem from square one, takes him hours to brake into his own car.

Thats what I am thinking of doing...

Ive seen alarms which require you to touch a certain screw or 2 in the car in order for you to be able to start the car. Does anyone know how to do this or which alarm has this feature? Ive been told Rhino alarms do it but i went to the web site and no info on such a feature whatsoever

How much was your install and can you please list what you got?

200sx my immobiliser is like that. When the ignition is switched too on, nothing will happen untill you touch the key surround and one of the bolts in the car.

Good for stopping punks but proffessionals would unbolt the car and see the black wire going to the bolt. But now that I know where it is maybe I should move it to a less obvious place...

Dunno what brand or anything cos it was installed by car dealer before pickup, at my request, for $300 fitted. Passive arming, 3 point.

Which dealer was this? The guy who told me about it was also a car dealer, True Value Imports to be exact. Good bloke and quite honest too. Would this have been the same place you got yours?
