how do i go about re-setting my ECU? 180sx SR20DET
and what will it do for my car?

Disconnect the battery for around 20 minutes. Then drive how you want for a few days and the ECU learns your driving style and adapts to it. Beneficial if you fang everywhere as it will be used to supplying enough fuel always

not sure thats exactly true dude, i heard if u just drive hard a lot it will learn a lot quicker if you dont reset it.

but yeh theres a fair chance im wrong. perhaps one of the resident tech heads (namely dumhead) can shed some light on this matter

Will this also work on a non turbo s13 sr20 as i had to disconect my battery the other day and i thought i had lost some power but now it looks like i wasnt dreaming

yeah, all of the factory ECUs have a built in default setting which is what it reverts to when you reset it. Over time they re map themselves based on the sensor inputs and driving style.

If all your sensors are working right you'll get a bit more power after letting the ECU learn for a while. Resetting it can sometimes improve fuel efficiency, and make the engine run smoother though, if it's a bit out of whack.

Hmm... might reset mine again then just to try and help it survive a bit longer :P (doubt it will do much for me :P)
