Post subject:  GTiR Turbo on S13

I've done a search but all the info i came accross was pretty brief.
It seems that the water and oil lines from the T25G can be made to fit with some bending (sounds like what i did to make T28BB fit with T25G lines) so it would seem it's a bolt up swap for the most part (no mention of clocking the housings or anything).
Do i have to use S14/15 inlet and outlet snouts, oil drain and all that stuff?
Second question is how do they feel? Given that the exhaust side is bigger then an S14/15 turbo it has more power potential but is it significantly laggier? What sort of power outputs would be expected?
My engine is currently stock but future mods include (already bought) daughterboards, S15 injectors and Z32 AFM. I'd like around 190rwkw as my final figure with those mods.
I would imagine GTiR Turbo will support that power happily?
Also what is reliability like, i have heard that it's common for GTiR turbos to crack through the exhaust housing around the wastegate and so on.
Thanks
Jarich

EDIT:
Just found some info on NS.com.
It seems the front housing needs to be clocked and a new wastegate bracket made (no big deal) and i SHOULD be able to use S14/15 T28 inlet and exhaust snouts and the oil drain (probably just mod my T25G one like i did last time i ran a T28).
Oil and water lines might need more modding then they do when going to S14/15 turbo but i could always just make new ones if i have to (especially easy with water lines).
Apparently the turbo can run pretty big boost, in the 20psi range and has 360 degree thrust bearing but i can't confirm that.
Either way thats more then my support systems can handle at this stage.

The one smart thing I did was buying a modern turbo, save yourself the hassle and wory and buy a suitable new BB turbo. You can buy a GT28R from HPinabox for $1250.

Nah not interested in a new turbo, it's between 2x and 4x my budget to get one.
Not necessary given my goals.

I make 150kw @ all 4, with 3" exhaust and 13psi. (no other mods) So your goal of 190kw should be achievable with a GTiR Turbo.

GtiR t28 is probably the laggiest of the nissan factory turbos, having said that I do think on a GTiR engine it is one of Nissans best matched factory turbos. I know people making 180-190 kw with relatively minor mods on a GTiR.

I would expect on a RWD SR20, that you prob wont make full boost till after 4k rpm. Some good ecu tuning and perhaps cams would help to bring that down.

If you like driving in the high RPM band, then it'll be a lot of fun. If you're expecting a lot of pull at 2.5k rpm, then you'll be disappointed.

16-17 psi would be pushing the efficiency of the turbo, and like other t28's the maximum is 200-210kw.

If you can pick up a GtiR turbo for ~$500, then its pretty good value for money upgrade. I've seen them sold for anywhere between $450 - $700.

Good luck with it.
