Hi, the car I'm looking at has a gtir t28, the guy im buying it off (he's a mechanic) said it was bigger in some way than the ones on the 14's or 15's. Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks,
Gary

No matter I found a site that told me. If anyone wants to know heres the size difference:

T28 (As fitted to the Local S14/200SX)
Compressor - 60 trim T3 with T04B 0.6AR diffuser
Turbine - 0.64 A/R T25 housing, 62 trim wheel

T28 (As fitted to the Pulsar GTiR)
Compressor - 60 trim T3 with T04B 0.6AR diffuser
Turbine - 0.86 A/R T25 housing, 79 trim wheel

How confusing is the whole T28 thing!

When I was looking into getting mine from garrett, I looked into the whole "T28 bb /rb Family" and there are quite a few variants all classed into the "T28" Family, used by Nissan, and other variants available as aftermarket items through Garrett.

Bit of a pain in the ass if youre lining up someones car and they go "Yeah i've got a T28 on mine" and you go "which one" and they go "Duh......"

yeah definetly true CMY180.
Ray Hall has a special Ray Hall model with mixed internals. May have the T28 housing but what's inside dat counts.
Varying internals means varying HP, lag and max boost.

The s14 turbo should spin up faster then the GTI-r version.
Thats because the turbine is smaler.
A bigger turbine housing and wheel gives more HP but less quick.
So,bigger doesn't always count.
It's what you like.
Quick spinning 320Hp potential or a little bit less quick spinning 350Hp potential....
Also look for a Garrett GT28.They are insane! :o
A T25 Turbine and a T03 compressor.Nice!!!! 8)
Don't know which is better (T28 or GT28) but it still sounds sweet!!!

Yeah i got a GT25 on my car and the sound is insane gotta love it, the problem with garrett is there is about a million different cores and wheel sizes and housings you can use to make a turbo so it does become confusing come buying time! However the gtir turbo i know is a little bigger in trim size to complement the quad throttle bodies
