i was going to add this onto the end of the suspension thread in the tech section but its a bit off topic so yeah. read on!

i bought my flex from perfect run and they left japan on the 21st. one box has been cleared but another hasn't and i've been checking 3 times a day since they arrived on the 23rd.

so i called aus-post today to see what the hold up is, and they gave me a customs number because its being held up by them.

upon discussion with customs, turns out the box thats awaiting clearance has no details on it. no invoice, no postal address, no name. nothing.
so i gave them my details. i thought that the invoice for both boxes would be in one; on the box that has been cleared. so customs went back through aus post to find that box that is awaiting delivery to get the invoice.

i called back in 2 hours as instructed, and they've found the first box with the invoice but now customs is saying that they need proof of payment, an invoice from the supplier, and the invoice for the power intake kit that i also bought in the purchase (which was delivered to me separately on monday).

so i told the guy i was talking to that i dont have any documents as i have not yet received the products. its all on the invoice on the first box that has been cleared and being held by them. but he says that they still need me to fill out some forms and provide a copy of the invoice of the power intake kit which was delivered separately.

does anyone have any similar experience or advice?

If the parcel has no delivery details on it they are probably trying to ensure that you are the correct recipient.

That said, the bit about the power intake makes me think thay are about to sting you for duty and gst.

Don't you have the invoice that perfectrun give you when you pay for the stuff in the first place to show to customs??

If the combined total of the gear you buy from OS is over $1000 then you have to pay tax.
That could have somthing to do with it.

which is exactly how companies like that can offer the prices they do,and that's the risk you take. every once in a while, something you order will get held up. do it enough, customs will notice, and your name gets flagged, and after that,EVERYTHING you import gets held.

I had this happend to me a few years ago when I ordered a bunch on Cusco suspension stuff from Japan. It got held up by Customs and I had to produce an Invoice and pay Import Duty and GST before it was cleared. The parts still ended up being cheaper the buying them locally.

thats why you have some shipped to work, some to a friends place and some to home.

also get them to mis-spell your name too. that helps with defeating it

i didnt say any of this :P

that first bits a good idea, but with misspelling of names, wouldn't that just create hassles? or do you mean it would help your case getting the items cleared...?

who cares if YOUR name is spelt wrong on the parcel. you know who its for. the postman doesnt care, he only sees the address.

plus like i said, sending it to another address will help too.

from memory, items sent within 2 months (or maybe less) to the same person from the same address MAY be thought to be in the same consignment. so you might get stung again if you ship something to there again from them.

They aren't quite as stupid as you would assume.
Having say a pair of Cusco coilovers sent to two adjacent suburbs from the same sender is enough to pique their interest I'm told.
I've not had any troubles sending stuff (although most of the parts I sell to oz are under $1000) but it has been known to happen.
