Not meaning to rip on you guys (I'm sure there are a few of you on the forums), but here is a prime example of them being totally unhelpful:

I ring RDA's hotline today to find out about some new brakes for my S13. The bore on the other end of the phone was most unhelpful. He basically didn't give my any prices, gave me a few parts numbers (eventually), and some places where I could buy them from. The whole duration of the call he sounded like he wanted to be somewhere else.

So then I ring Auto 1 at Kensington, who supposedly stock the brakes. The bloke on the other end is even worse, basically patronising me. I gave him the part number and finally he comes back after about 2 minutes, and in a gruff response tells me the price. Didn't even bother telling me that they were n't in stock.

See, maybe I'm overreacting, but I HATE having to prompt customer service people to answer my questions. I used to work at Domino's Pizza, and I answered a shitload of phone calls (often over 150 a week). I always used to win the upsell competitions because every time, no matter how tired/emotional or whatever I was, I put on the voice, I put on the act, and I always asked the customer what they would like, instead of letting the customer tell me.

It isn't fucking rocket science! An attitude like those guys makes one never want to purchase anything from them because they are so damn unhelpful.

Yes parts people are assholes they think there mechanics

Try being a mechanic and getting parts (befor you flash your card and get a discount) they try telling you stuff thats bullshit.
The other day I was at Autobarn and the guy tried selling me the white cover thingy for the cluster and I go nah looks to hard to put on (did'nt want it) and he goes it isn't if you know what your doing  pfhh dick head :D

Why did you say mechanics are assholes?? sounds like you just spoke to parts guys??

what does that have to do with mechanics? sounds to me like you got idiot salespeople both times, not mechanics.

I use the guys at kenso auto1 occasionally, and they're decent most of the time. it depends on who you get and how busy they are in my experience as to what sort of treatment you get, which I agree is a bit average.

if you reckon parts shop guys are bad,try dealing with wreckers...

fair call. although when they have both male and female clothing sections, you tend to take it a little personally. it's as if your money and you aren't good enough to be buying their product.
which is fine,as when I cop that crap,I walk out and buy elsewhere.

autobarn tried to sell me one of these too. it must be part of their training

I went in for a oil filter and hes like, u want some white dials for ur cluster.

I laughed at him out loud and asked what the point was.
he gave up after that.

I guess alot of people in the auto industry and pissed off cos they work shit hours for shit pay.
