Initial Drift will be holding a drift competition at Driftland - , on Easter Monday, the 12th of April, gates will be open at 8:00 a.m. for scrutineering with free practice beginning at 9:00 A.M. open to entry for all skill levels the event will be held on a dry circuit, however it will still take place rain, hail or shine.

Mandatory Equipment:
Australian Standards Approved Helmet
Long Sleeve Shirt
Long Pants
Closed Shoes
Cams Licence (available on the day)

Cars Should be free from oil leaks and in a roadworthy state, however, removal of bonnet and bumpers is acceptable for the event. We would also like to point out that the event is open to all drive line configurations, not just rear-wheel drive cars. Also In-car assistance will be available for those just starting out in the sport.
To be consistent with D1 Grand Prix in Japan, we will be using D1 rules. For those not familiar with D1, the event format will be as follows: Qualifying will be judged through a series of corners which will be disclosed on the day. The top 16 qualifiers will be placed into 4 groups of 4 according to their skill level. They will then participate in a 'battle stage' i.e. 2 cars drifting simultaneously, one behind the other, where the intent is to out-drift the opponent in front of you while keeping as little distance as possible between the two cars. Each competitor has one lap only each in chasing, Loser being eliminated and the winner carrying on to the next Battle Round.
Judging Criteria, In consistency with D1, is based on 5 factors; speed, drift angle, closeness to the leading car, style (which includes noise & tyre smoke), and crowd appeal.

Event Day Schedule:
8:00 a.m. Scrutineering
8:55 a.m. Driver Briefing
9:00 a.m. Free practice
12:30 p.m. Qualifying
3:00 p.m. 1st Round battle (Top 16 Shootout)
3:45 p.m. 2nd Round battle (Top 8 Shootout)
4:10 p.m. Semi-final and 3rd place battle
4:30 p.m. Final Battle

As there are only 35 places available prebooking is essential to reserve your position.

Entry fee is $100 to Initial Drift Members
$130 to non-members
Day Cams License (if applicable) $20
Spectators - Initial drift members are free
Non-members $5

I'm going to be in this event!

Who wants to rap chants and dis me as I drift off the track?!?!?! ;)

I think this will be more of a learning day for me rather then a show off day.

Who is going anyhow?

it's on the go kart circuit ar oran park. NOT the main part of the GP circuit, which is also open on monday for private practice.

I'll be out there having a look. depending on who's doing what at the time,I'll either be on the hill watching the drifters,or over next to the main circuit watching a mate's S15 going around.

Thanks guys. You should have come and said hello, I was a little bit left out!

At the start of the day I was losing the car quite abit, but the last couple of laps I had I really started to get it. I began to drift earlier and keep it longer.

I am doing it again ASAP! I LOVED IT! One thing I was happy with was my car. It was good......... until I hit the tyre wall, but that'll come off with a bit of polish!!!!
