I didn't bother advertising Labour Day because it sold out even before they could create a marketing flyer for it! Looking forward to the day - looks like will be good weather for it! |

I'm going to the labour day track day. Although I'm certain I will need new brake pads right away. |

Woops! Yeah I meant after the labour day track day my front pads are definitely going to be dead. I just hope I don't use them up completely. Looks like there is about 40-45% meat left - which probably means only about 25%ish of useable pad material. I think I used at least 1/4 of the life of the front pads at Oran Park GP circuit club day. I need some new brake pads - anyone got any comments to make about Project Mu B-spec pads? Was thinking these would be nice to try out next. |

Was thinking these would be nice to try out next. 40-45% particularly on the front pads I'd replace before the track day rather than afterwards... crazy to go to a track day with that little left!!! Maybe I'm just overcautious... Strongly advocate Project Mu - I'm running the street spec NS one and they're fine - a lot more bitey than the shitty stockish ones my car came with. NS is 0~400 degrees, BSpec is slightly higher 0~500 degrees. I'd try BSpec next time I replace the pads, and certainly if you intend on tracking your car more. Do shop around though - particularly if you order from Japan you can get some ridiculously good deals. |

45% is heaps if you know how much your car uses of that particular pad at wakefield. I was using a set of rears on the skyline every second track day but the fronts lasted forever. I think i got 7 or 8 days out of them. for the minor difference in price go straight to the HC+. Other than being a bit unresponsive on the first decent stop they perform brilliantly. They need a little bit of heat to work properly TMB has NR's (i think, 0-700 odd anyway) in his track car and the feel is pretty bad once they get hot i found. By the 6th lap they were very wooden. Still seemed to be working ok though. I also tried the SBS carbon ceramic (0-650) on my last outing in the skyline. Same issue as the NR's. Wooden feel once hot with the addition of very high initial bite so i was locking wheels everywhere with very little pedal pressure. |

High initial bite must have been scary especially braking after the kink at wakefield! I've been to wakefield once before on these brake pads and I think there will be just enough meat left on them at the end of the day to get me home. My last track day was Oran Park GP and I think I used quite a fair bit there, more than I did at wakefield. Thanks for the feedback guys. I was looking at either the Project Mu HC+ or the B-spec although a friend suggested the HC+ might kill the RDA slotted rotors I have fairly quickly?? Hence the B-spec might not destroy the rotors as fast. - I'll email Streeter and see what it will cost me for a set. Anyhow enough whoring of this thread. Back on topic - I think I might not be able to attend the December Wakefield day, especially with the idea of a recession coming into the picture. |

Yes back on topic: For first timers: Circuit Club includes driver training and official timing. Highly recommended for drivers of all skills/Exp. This is NOT a CAMS event. This is more of a driver training and practice day. 1. Four groups will be run throughout the day, depending on skill and experience/laptime 2. Includes Driver Training - John Boston will be there as the official trainer, included in the cost 3. Passengers allowed for half the day (half timed, half untimed for passengers) Passengers are $20 4. Start at 9 and finish at 4pm: should be approx 7 sessions (one 15min session per hour per group) 5. P-platers allowed and car sharing is acceptable ($60 per additional driver) 6. Wakefield licence is on top ($50 per year payable to Wakefield) 7. A photographer will be there snapping high res pics 8. You will need a helmet, long sleeved clothing & closed-in shoes with socks.
