WHOA!!!!! :D

im very pleased with that time. 1:13.39. i didnt think i beat my session 2 time. it didnt feel that much quicker.

I made a prediction of 1:15 before the track day, so im pretty stoked with that time.

yeah, me and that type S were battling pretty hard. it went really well actually.

there are still 4 honda's above me though. the 2 civic's were race spec though, and the 2 integra's had a lot done to them so i hear.

but to be 2 seconds behind an AMG CLK is pretty good. how much was that worth compared to mine??? :)

Man that Merc was a Black series!!! Those are more expensive than an AMG.
Makes me so depressed that my car was over heating.

My fastest time was 1:22 and that was the first lap out of 3 (which was a warmup lap) then the car started to overheat again. That makes me a sad panda :( But i still managed to beat some people :o

phase 1 - fix cooling
phase 2 - get some semi's
pahse 3 - profit

I still don't think its that crucial to have semi-slicks when going to a track day if you're going to learn the track/car/driving or just out there to have fun.

I'd say its crucial if your ultimate goal is to set a quick lap time though.

I'd disagree there.

Once you really start to push you will find that you will over heat and destroy your street tyres pretty quickly if you run them on the track. They will get harder after each track day so performance in general will decrease.

If you do want to make the most of your track day then you will get better value from buying some cheap track only wheels and a set of semis (second hand or otherwise), getting an aggressive alignment and running a lower spec (cheaper) tyre on the street.

Or just forget about all the compromises and buy a falcon and a track only car.....

 so thats where all the dirt on that corner came from.

i was wondering how those dirt tracks would have come in from that angle. that picture tells the whole story ehehehe

Id have to agree with badhairdave. On the first session the tires were holding up till the last lap or so. I found that they no longer provided the same amount of grip from the previous laps.

Then being passenger in Timo's car which had R888 there was a massive difference in grip levels and how the tire coped with the heat, also braking ability.

To me setting the fastest times will require a set of semi's as the Eagle F1's couldn't cut it. They are great on the street but felt crap after a few hard laps at wakefield. How ever...I next track day i would like to do a timed session with the F1's just as a comparison.

That is why semi's are on the list...right after the cooling issues i experienced.

Anyone selling track rims with semi's? :D I'll be ready to buy in late January!

I never get a chance to overheat my street tyres because the oil temp reaches 110 degrees before the tyres overheat. I then do a cool down, so that would explain it.

I would only be able to make full use of semi-slick tyres once I get better at driving and improve the stock cooling system.

rears have got RE55's and fronts are Advans.

the brakes were the best thing for me the whole day. the car pulled up really quickly and there was NO brake fade AT ALL.
