yeah it's definitely a better surface, and they've added some width in a few places, and removed some off camber bits.

http://wp.circuitclub.com.au/?p=357

Jacky's Echo was a second quicker, I was about a second quicker, and Garry Willmington was 2 seconds quicker in one of their V8s.
The track was pretty green, cold, and dusty - so it'll improve a fair bit from here too.

The track has a smoother flow to it now, so it's a bit different to drive.

1:12 flat on the old Nankangs, so I'd call it at least 1.5 seconds quicker.

On semis I'd be expecting 2 seconds + improvement.

1:12

long sleeves, long pants, enclosed shoes, helmet.

You need to get a wakefield license which is 60 a year this year i think.

Clubs like circuit club and Autosports run these things as training days so you can generally get on the track without an L2S cams license.

PS. New track surface is pretty good :)
Expect 1 to 2 seconds quicker times!

I loved the write up on the CC website of yours and Jacky's first runs Dumhed. So although it's a little more conventional/smooth/less demanding (seems to be the vibe of the article), you'd say the resurfacing is definitely a good thing?

Can't wait to get out there. Lousy cricket season needs to end - it's getting in the way of track day fun

I think it's definitely a good thing, but I did like the extra challenge of the tricky track, and I got my car working really well on it.

Now I think my car will be a bit less optimal, but it should still be pretty good :)

I wish we had official timing for the test run, cos I would have had the outright lap record for the new track :P

Cricket should never get in the way of a track day!

Just thought i'd point out that i was quicker than tmb in the morning session today. It's probably a one time only thing so i figure i should make the most of it :)

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... 08.WAKE.S1
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... 08.WAKE.S2

I was in a car with less power too 8)

It was a pretty wet day down there which is why the times are so far off the normal pace.

I was lucky enough to be driving tmb's other car which has fairly soft suspension and a bit less weight than his sil80 with a pair of my old ao48's on the front and a pair of azenis on the rear. On the dry line which was appearing around 1pm it worked really well and i was dropping about .2 seconds a lap until i went a bit hot through turn 9 and had the car various forms of sideways for the length of the back straight before ending up in the mud right next to the turn 10 sand trap.

It was all down hill from there (as you can see in session 2). The rain didn't stop for the rest of the day. ao48's aren't great at dispersing a lot of water when traveling at 150+km/h or trying to stop quickly either.
