Lucky fergo brought a toyota otherwise i would've scored the lowest power figure for the night

Was pretty unimpressed with the 108.8 from the autech, was expecting more with the pod filter and detached rear muffler, especially since i got 103.1 from an S14 motor with half a 3inch cat-back, pod filter and heaps of timing.

Was the dyno reading lower/more correct than last time? I heard it was recalibrated?

If anything i thought my number was a bit high,

seriously 3071, half throttle to hold around 16psi because the IW was rubbish, atleast 2 degrees timing short of where it should be.

No way it should have made 259

don't forget the copen :P

don't forget the NA S13 with massively lean mixtures that made all of 65kw or so. include that, and my girlfriend's car was third lowest for output, and second lowest for capacity on the night.
I reckon it did pretty well for an NA 1.6l.

That's bogan's S13, made 75, mods should have seen it to at least 85-90.

The copen is more of a hairdrier than a motor vechicle, so i didn't count it :P .

it should have, but didn't. it helps when you inject the right amount of fuel into an SR. from the look of the runs he had,I'd guess he's up for a fuel pump.

and with the way fuel prices are going,we'll all be driving cars like the copen soon.

Yeah I just noticed that, what's the go? An Autech is supposedly rated at 147kW at the fly...but I guess if you had 30% drivetrain loss then your figure is spot on.

Weird... :-?

stock s15's are also 147kw at the fly, and from memory they pull around 105-110rwkw stock

It had nothing to do with either of you. the 'discussion' was about the relative driveability of two 180's that had over 300kw atw.

Justin...

Actually fergo, one of those 180's never made over 200rwkw

You know who you are under-200rwkw-guy!

Can't help but bite... If he let it go a nano fart longer it would have :)

Actually I don't know if you were there later on when Yavus pointed out a interesting way of comparing things and adding a bit of parity, that shed a whole new light on the subject.

It's a fair bet that he'd be referring to the significant amount of head work zac had to have done to make the engine breath enough for a 300+ figure.

I've seen curves similar to zacs on rb20's with big turbos and a lot of head work. Bottom end response suffers as well as the initial bit of midrange, but once the thing gets where it needs to be power just goes vertical and you end up with a fairly high stable peak (within 30-40rwkw) power over a good 3-4k rpm so you have silly good average power in the 4-8k range. The setup is basically optimised for flow and power, not bottom end torque.

182go is banging on about his felt more responsive, i don't doubt it as he had the stock ports, cams and valves so improved gas velocity and better torque in the lower end of the rev range. He would have hit the same wall zac did a year or so ago when the engine wouldn't make more than 260-270rwkw.

ahh i see

i remember omg mentioning that bigger valves made good improvements to head flow for 300rwkw+ applications.
