Hey All,

This thread is to gauge interest in a skipan day the team is considering organising at Eastern Creek skidpan, run but Auto-Motion (Aaron McGill). All details are 'if' this goes ahead.

For those of you who haven't been on the skidpan before I can vouch that it is alot of fun, not to mention skill-building. Eastern Creek skidpan has a constant water trickle, pumped from dams, running over polished concrete. You can go nuts all day with basically no wear on your tyres. If you need or want it, there will be instructors on hand to guide you in slide control, through various courses setup throughout the day. No CAMS licence or such is required, as it essentially a fun orientated driver training day.

At this stage we are looking at Sunday July 16th, but we need to act fast if we are to secure the venue, hence the EOI thread. The cost will be $185 per PERSON. You CAN have multiple drivers per car, so long as everybody is signed up. This is a great chance to give your better half some sideways experience behind the wheel of your pride and joy, in a safe environment, if that is on anyones mind.

So... interested? If so state your interest, or this can't happen. We would really like this to go ahead, but it will only happen if those interested go for gold, and lay down the cash within a couple of weeks of the event. There will be 20 spots to be filled and if we aren't certain we can do that you guys miss out I'm afraid.

One last thing, I'd like to encourage anyone who has any photo's of sideways skidpan action to post them, so the members who aren't so familiar with the concept can at least get an idea of the fun that is to be had!

Cheers guys,
Graham

Edit:
Another thing I should have mentioned is that this is for everybody. You don't have to have any sort of skill level or be a star drifter. You only have to have the ambition to have fun and learn about your vehicle. IOW don't be afraid to come because you think you might spinout in front of spectators - the spectators will be mostly compiled of other drivers who will be spinning out too ;) That said, I am sure a couple of our more experienced members will join in on the fun to demonstrate how it's done - should be great to watch and participate.

As long as I have run my engine in by then and its been tuned up for mass tyre destruction, I will be in for it. 8)

Cant wait to unleash the 180 after 3.5 years off the road.

Well we've had ten or eleven people express interest so far. If all of you are prepared to commit to it I think this can go ahead - considering I add two to the list. I think I will let this go until tomorrow night and see what further interest is shown and discuss it with the team following that. Hopefully no-one will book the skidpan for that date in the meantime.
