Hey, does anyone know anything about the Mitsubishi RVR? It's like a mini van based on the EVO3 I think. Does anyone know what the top model is, how powerful it is and how much it is worth. I've heard good things about them but I have not found many that are for sale so I don't know much about them. I may consider one if it is as good as I hear, it's so different and rare and if it hauls ass then it may be my next car. Any info will be appreciated, thanks guys.

RVR sportsgear is the model u want. 167kw 300ish Nm at 2500rpm. 1500kg ish, 4G63 4wd turbo. runs a TD04 same as cc lancer gsr. its not a evo3 setup. different cams, internals, top mount intercooler etc.

check here for exact spec..

The main thing I have heard about them is that they do not share the same gearbox as the EVO's, and it is quite weak. Most people who try upping the power end up with a broken box, and they are expensive to replace.
The EVO box apparently does not fit (at least not easily).

Jeff.

What is the engine based on? It comes with a stock top-mount intercooler? There are models called the "hyper" and "evolution" are they any good? What's the newest, fastest model I can get?

http://mitsubishi-motors.co.jp is dead.

Sorry to ask so many questions, I haven't seen any for sale yet so I haven't had a chance to look at them or ask about them. I've seen some with EVO3ish front bars, do they come standard with certain models?

some models come with fmic and some with top mounted.

I have no idea why you would ever want one but it's your choice..

Its basically a souped up van. While it may run Evo underpinnings with a detuned engine, it still looks like a stunted Nimbus and won't go anywhere near as well.

Aside from the car being bigger than a Lancer, being a van its also a tall body. More weight and a higher centre of gravity does not a sporty car make, 4WD turbo or not.

A RVR would be a good purchase if you had to privately buy a mini van, and you wanted something quicker than the courier / trader vans that the manufacturers down here sell.

If you want a sports car, though, buy a car and not a van.

oops my bad. http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp

all the hypersportsgear have similar power figures with newer model running 9:1 compression vs 8.5:1. 4G63T based engine so aftermarket parts should not be an issue. Yes they are top mount intercooler similar to wrx. I never seen one with fmic out of the factory. Evo model? never heard of it, you have more chance finding a forrester GT ;)

Check the above forum. Theres a few moded RVRs members listed.

i see 2 or 3 unique RVR's around in my area, all with the evo FMIC. Maybe the craphouse models came with the TMIC, but the only ones ive seen have the evo running gear coolers.

Sweet! :( I'm still determined to look at one though, all the RVR ads I've seen had the words "very fast/excellent handling" or simular, I wanna see how accurate those descriptions are. If they go any better than the WRX or GTi-R then I'll have a serious decision to make. I think the sporty versions look pretty nice, very different.

I was going to look at your VR4 that day but then I got tied up and it's a bitch to get out to your area from my area. That RVR in that ad is an auto :-?

coincidence! i have been researching these things heaps lately caus ive been kinda interested in em!

xspeed over in WA have three in their workshop, check em out at
http://www.xspeed.com.au/ssport/mitsubishi.htm

the HSGR does have an EVOIII engine (not detuned), and has a FMIC, not top. they do mid14's stock and 0-100 in low 6's.. they only (?) weigh 1450kg, so 13s are not hard at all!! they also come stock with big brembo brakes and front recaro seats stock

i think they are kinda cool, but i dont think i would actually get one... but still, the novelty of thinking about it is pretty cool
