hey do ya reckon i could get an sr20det into a 90 model crew cab rodeo minitruck??
what do you reckon it would cost me? i am not mechanically minded so would need pro to do this for me.... curently the truck has its original 4cly, it has been rebuilt recently but its really a bit weak in the BALLS dept.
and it has sluggeed through 200000 kms....
it has the full airbag setup, and chromed everything..... but the interior needs a facelift too.......

ummm......

i dunno, this seems a bit hard, i dont think you should bother...

dropzone minitrucks is a club, dunno if theyre still meeting tho,
just do a search, im not sure what the url is

for the budget install of an SR20DET:

shortened tailshaft
custom engine mounts
customer gearbox mount
gear stick hole may need modification

mecanical speedo in the bin, youll need an electronic one
youll need a powerful fuel pump and EFI fuel filters (at least 2, 1 before & one after pump)

you may need thermal fan(s) with thermal switch

youll need an all new exhaust.

depending on the shape of the rodeo engine bay you may need to relocate the alternator to the passenger side, meaning a new bracket

you will need to go through engineers so if you dont retain 100% of your emissions equipment you will need aftermarket management. it will be alot cheaper to retain the meissions stuff but down the track i would highly recommend aftermarket.

ummm, you will need a bit of a brake upgrade to pass engineers

if you get a pro to do it, let me know what they say when they quote you and i could help out if they try to bullshit you.

kewl i'm just trying to research options on engine upgrades, i know there is the v6 rodeo engine is almost a bolt in, and a turbo rodeo also not to hard to install, but i think the turbo is really small n puny and not so good to work on as a modified engine......
so i've got a long way to go with this research so if you have any good ideas post em up!!

SR20T!
SR20T!

i was only joking about this being hard, any turbo install is hard.

although a rodeo V6 with a BIG blower would be nice.

i thought it would be hard, but i don't know about insurance after the turbo install!!!
i am 21 and have an at fault crash n conviction for neg driving resulting from that crash....
my silvia non turbs cost me 2500 a yr................ :(
but i want TURBO POWER!!!!
what should i do?
i cant 3rd party it coz the mini attracts so much attention anyway its still a risk! so i need insurance
maybe v6 with good internals so i can turbo it l8er is the way to go...

well, you may have to go for a V6 which will stil be good, you can work it with all the NA mods without insurance hastles and then supercharge it l8r

turbong a V6 is mega expensive, usually end up TT = major internal work

im not insuring, theres no way i could afford it and lifes too short to compromise. ill just have to arm myself
