Afternoon,

I am thinking of putting either a RB20 or a SR20 into my old KE55 corolla.

Does anyone know if this will fit with minor if not any modifications to the egine bay??

Secondly does anyone know any good engineers??

Also if you know if anyone that is selling one of these engines at a relativley cheap price could you let me know.

Thanks,

I assume you are talking about the turbo versions, just to throw a spanner in the works what about a FJ20.
Buy a half cut so you get everything, i have heard that some of the complete kits motor/box/ecu can have sensors missing, cut wires.
You may be able to get a discount by returning the other parts to who you buy it off, or sell them on here. if you go the SR

Finding a good condition FJ is easier said then done.
They are getting quite old now. Go the SR.

Be even more different and go with a 13B-T rotary engine :D

I was going over seas but I have put it off for a while as some of my mates still dont know when they want to go....

I have been loking around for the last month or so for engines. They are all pretty easy go get hold of it just depends on how much I want to fork out for a motor and how easy it will be to get it engineered.

The best bet at the moment is either a SR or the 13B.

Does anyone know how much a good engineer is??

I'm sure you won't get a rb in a ke corolla with out firewall mods, rotarys in corollas have been done plenty of times. You will struggle to engineer a 13bt due to the low weight.

Maybe a CA18DET would be a very worthy alternative?

Less power from factory to help the legalities, cheaper than SR but and newer than an FJ.

With a few mods bloody powerful like any good Nissan engine.

I have found a few good prices on the SR20, all round the 3K mark for a half cut which isnt too bad I spose.

Also found a few rotor motors which seem to be a little cheaper. I will most likley put one of these in if I can find one for the right price.

Does anyone know of any good spray shops around Sydney as I want to respray it before I put the motor in....

ta,

For an engineer to come look at my car and give it a certificate was about $500. Thats was supposed to be a 'good' price too.

Rotors count as twice their swept displacement for the purposes of engineering so based on the weight of the car it might not be legal to fit a rotor to the car in NSW, i was quoted $275-$300 for engineers but i was taking the car to him as well.
