does anyone here kart or use to kart or help out with someone who does well i went go karting the other day and its got me thinking, i was going to do a full forged engine for my sr but seeing as i'll only do a couple of drift days and the odd grip day, i was wondering if i could have more fun out of a Karting. i just want to know what class would be best for a budget of $3-4k? what brand of kart ? running expenses? how long do engines, bearings, tires etc last? how long will karting last before it gets dull? are race prepped karts as fun as a quick s13 or is it like going back to playing a ps1 after playing ps3 for so many years any opinions would be great cheers Nath |

speak to some of the karting shops, i recommend speaking to Ian at Karting World in Camden, he used to build and service my kart for me back when I had it, he should be able to help you out with most information... A second hand Arrow or CRG frame would be ideal with a Rotax or Leopard engine, they are both turn key and race, clutched and relatively low maintenance, easier than running a Yamaha engine being 2-stroke, mixtures no clutches etc (although you can get them clutched these days too)... then your expenses are really just tyres, licensing, track fees and fuel... |
