my boy owns an ss ute, he's been through 3 commonwhore sedans, an r32, and a tx3... so now he owns this.

its pretty cool...... but manages to break frequently.

And it weighs a tonne so mines faster but he wont admit it..when his ute actually works. 8)

I've owned three V8-powered cars. two monaros (HZ and HX),and a UCF11 celsior.

I saw the light back at the turn of the century, got over my holdens-only phase and got into japanese cars and have never looked back.

the celsior was a lot of fun but was also incredibly thirsty and went about as well as a stock silvia in a straight line.

production V8's are for towing and moving fat luxo barges around town.
they're not performance engines. their power output for their capacity is laughable compared to their four cylinder brethren.

Monaros  bet you wish you didnt sell them they are worth a fortune now.. Your lucky to have owned a muscle car to appreciate what they can do
Sure they dont have the luxury of the jap cars that is why i will have one for a toy or spare car but a i will never give up my HQ Monaro with its little 400 chev for any jap car.

By the time you modify your jap car to copmpete with a v8 it will be pumping a fair bit of fuel through those injectors especially when the turbo kicks in just watch the fuel gauge drop and each time you change gears and rev up again to boost you can watch me dissapar into the horizon while i simply smash my manual shift auto up the gears and grin from the roar of my engine as you dissapear frm my rearview!!!

but then again I cant drive that every day so yeah jap cars have their place!!

hmm i recon alot of people prefer jap 4 (and some devels like the 6s)

some people actually like a car that handles, i wouldnt drive a old monaro for the life of me,

i re itererate my statement of gtfo ;)

gtfo

I have a vivid memory of my skyline driving past an FPV falcon on wakefields main straight like it was standing still, then out braking it, then out turning it....

V8's are good for towing though. My old mans 5.4 falcon leaves my 4.0 falcon ute for dead....

Nothing against classics for cruisers, but they just don't perform.

I didn't sell them. one was stolen by someone who felt they deserved it more than I did and the other was written off by an old prick who didn't look before turning across an intersection I was going through.

as for what they could do,do you really want to go into that?
250hp from a carby motor that needed to be retuned every second month as the dizzy weights kept shifting, throwing the timing out, crap brakes and average suspension design does not a fast car make.
my HZ had over $30k worth of receipts in it's glove box for work that it had had done on it back in the 80's. it went quite well...for what it was.
it's handling was about as good as a std S14 (that's where most of the money went, into chassis improvement),it had power similar to a VT v6 commodore and stopped about as well as a diesel hilux.
all it really had going for it was stret cred, and it DID have that in spades,I'll admit that. it was fun to drive sure, but fast? not really.

as for the rest,I'm not going to bother trying to argue with you. I've seen your type so many times and it's not worth my time and the effort required to beat my way through your blind ignorance. I was like you ten years ago. thank god I woke up to myself.

I hate it when a car it taken from you with no respect or remorse but when its a accident thats not your fault it cuts even more!!

but im simply talking about the rush of the performance of the 8 wich you feel from 1000rpm up through every single gear without lag or reduced revs from gear changing.

Im not here to argue its just my point of view from my experience which is what a forum is for!!

I would guess that your experience with rushes of performance is limited if you have such a big hard on for v8s.

just a guess.

they do sound nice though, gotta give em that.

i drove an FPV GT. i think its a BA, and i really wasnt that impressed, the suspension was as boaty as my stagea, it didnt have that 'rush' from 1000rpm, in fact it didnt start to move till about 4k, and all it did then was make the fuel gauge move down as fast as the tacho moved up!
