Well,my car got hit today. I didn't even get out of my street when a bloke in a camry decided to reverse out of his driveway and into the N/SF corner of my car.
It was a good thing I didn't have a passenger,as they'd be short a foot right about now. the tow bar opened up the chassis nicely. the body loom was smashed,so it doesn't run,the kick panel and ecu are in the middle of the floor, and there's a hole you could fit a coke can through in the footwell. the chassis appears to be bent,in addition to the body and suspension damage.

time for a new car. hopefully his insurance won't bend me over too hard on the payout.

will post pics when I find somewhere I can upload them to.

i realise its a prick of a thing to have your car hit by someone, however on the plus side, you was considering getting rid of it?
either way not a nice thing to have happen to you. sorry mate.

Sucks to hear.

If i were you i'd be stripping off everything that is worth money and replace them with stock unless you plan on keeping the wreck

Thanks guys.

TMB: You'll be pleased to hear that one of the ugly black wheels bought it in the accident also. had a big chunk taken out of the rim lip,and the face was scraped.

atm I'm going to put a claim in with his insurance on monday and will start pulling my bits out of it ready to go into another wagon.

I've lined up three cars to look at tomorrow. two silver, and one in white with the factory option aero kit. we'll see which one I end up with.
with all the gear I have in mine atm,I feel the smartest option would be to just buy another stagea and swap it all over.

Bad luck mate, total PITA.

Ive a thing for white ones, myself. Hope that one in particular checks out ok and you dont end up being to shafted with the payout. Id be curious as to what they pay given the way the market is going....

oh,they'll fuck me over with the payout. it's SOP for insurers. they'll offer you bottom dollar around the wholesale price (who can buy cars at that price btw?) and suggest you go to court if you want more... H.E.L.P. is the last thing you get. even when you're not the one at fault, you still lose.

I just hope I can get enough out of them to minimise how much I have to fork out for the replacement.

Thats terrible news Justin. First it was dave and his R32 and now your stagea.

I just hope no other members are unfortunate enough to have their cars wrecked. :(

How much do you think your car would have been worth once its stripped back to stock?

well, the car's been assessed, and valued at $17k. my smashie has checked it out,and is writing up his quote atm. he's sure it's a write off as well.

Am waiting for the official word to that effect from the insurer, and then I should find out what the payout is,with me keeping the wreck. will have plenty of spare bits that way.

I've just picked up a replacement car tonight. exactly the same bar a cloth interior w/ plain black dash. totally stock.

Will start swapping parts over tomorrow.
