I have a Mitsubishi Triton turbo diesel, great truck, especially for towing. If you buy a diesel make sure its a turbo

i had a 2.8 hilux, old shape one. It struggled and the clutch was never the same after a nasty hill start with a silvia on the back.

I currently have a BA ute. I hate it, but it tows an s13 regularly. And yes, brake shudder and random tranny noises are certainly to be expected.
