I daresay a type R will scare a S series off the track even if it's stocker vs modded. With a competent driver of course. no. ask OMG about the good old days in the goblin vs. the infamous yellow type R. the type R was stock bar grippy rubber, good pads and braided lines, and had a very talented owner. the goblin had about 230kw atw,and a decent suspension setup using all the usual bolt on stuff. once OMG got serious, the type R was left in the weeds. a type R may do 14's in relatively stock form, but there are a lot of S series cars running around the 12's,and several doing sub 1'10" laps without huge investment. So you are saying it takes a fairly seriously modded S series to beat an R? In all honesty though didn't really mean that modded, i was thinking more like my own car which has more typical power up mods and should leave an R for dead in a straight line. I'd like to try out a DC2R one day, i've always liked them for some reason. |

straight line wins are easy, all you need is boost-up level mods. to beat one anywhere, anytime, you need the usual light tune level work. the S series have awesome power potential, but the handling isn't there without some investment. that's all the R has going for it,quite good handling out of the box. Indeedy, i guess that is kind of the point though isn't it? Either way i'd like to have a punt in one some day . Kind of like how i'd like to try drifting an AE86, i don't know weather i'll like it but i like the idea and i want to have a go hehe. |

One thing that is not in the equation is the drivers skills. Thats why i dislike evos because they make any fool look good. My friend who is a good rotary and ae 86 driver makes most people look bad, but than again he takes hugh risks |

Probably faster in fact . When you try to go too fast you actually go slower. |

it's VERY different to something with oodles of power like a silvia. if you don't have the basic techniques down, forget it. the cliched lines from drift bible, and initial D about the ae86 are actually pretty accurate. the ae86 is an honest car, that you can't use any cheats or tricks with. it trains you to do the job properly. I learned a lot driving my previous ae86's,and am looking forward to getting my project car finished so I can get back out and have fun again. Justin... |

Well my 140rwkw isn't exactly oodles....unless you drive a hachi hehe! Yeah that's partly why i'd love to try one, just to see how my drifting goes in a car with no power. I've tried no power but a decent ammount of torque (R31 with RB30E) but i've not tried a car with no torque either. |

you only have 140rwkw with your t28 or are u talking about when u were still running the t25? |

0.8 bar (spikes 1 bar ish) on a T28 isn't much. To be honest there is no disernable difference between the T25G and the T28 with my car how it is. And i don't care!! If i wasn't lazy i'd go play with it till it held 1 bar. But meh. 140rwkw is based on my mate Chris's dyno readout, he, myself and Mike all run identical mods, boost etc and that's what his car got. When we drive/drift together our acceleration is lineball. If you want to be pedantic i'm sure you could get anywhere in the 140-150rwkw range by putting different cars on different dynos but that's the ballpark . My dream project is a KE70 turbo. Turbo the 4KC . I so want to do it, 80rwkw would be my aim! |

I learned a lot driving my previous ae86's,and am looking forward to getting my project car finished so I can get back out and have fun again. I think it'd be much the same as drifting an NA silvia. I've had a go in the dry every now and then, nothing spectacular but it allows you to learn how to throw the car around and slide just with inertia and that. As soon as i jumped into a sil with power it definatly helped a lot with control as it's less intense than an NA. |
