Hi, im looking to buy a second car and was looking at the bmw. I was planning to spend under 10k and was just wondering if anyone can help me out with a few questions. What is the difference between the 316i, 318i and 320i? and the sport versions? I have googled these up and found no info which shows me the comparison between these 3 models. Just wondering if anybody on here can help. Thanks

Aren't they the 1.6L, 1.8L and 2L?

i think the 318 and 320 both are 2L, but the 320 is a 6 cylinder while the 318 is 4 cylinders

the 316 would be a serious povo model, mostly for girls that want to own a BMW and posers that strip off the badges and replace them with M badges.

also this is a silvia forum mate, not many BMW fans here

318i is only 2.0 in the updated E46 model, otherwise is should be 1.8ish litres with 4 cylinders.

And for under 10K, your looking at the cruddyest model of an E36 318i avail, and to be honest, it would be a pile of crap.

You havent googled very hard, because ive been researching these cars for a few months now, theres a billion sites out there with info.

yeah a while back we found the AE82 single cam corolla was faster than a 318, and that was with an extra passenger in the rolla!

Heaps of people at work have had BMWs, and they're always getting stuff fixed, or breaking down in inconvenient places.
One spent more time at the dealer than it did on the road, due to electrical problems. In the end they gave the owner a new car because they couldn't fix it!

Most times I drive up to Newcastle there are two types of cars I see broken down beside the freeway. Commodores, and BMWs.

Most over rated cars ever I think :)

Well they are Germany's Comnmodore equivalent.

:o :o :o ok then, thanks guys, you made me not like bmw anymore. guess i'll just look at other options then. I guess i just wanted something abit on the luxury side. Leather seats, climate control, etc. Well thanks anyways, the feedback really helps.

for 10k you can get a decent r32 prolly not a gtr but still, you can find some import-able ones for like 6-8k and then spend a few quid on some new rubber, sound and exhaust and that would look nice and make sure to rip its wing off (dont like 32's with the wings...)

thanks for the suggestion but i already got a sports car. I just wanted a low-maintenance/practical car, was gona save up for a euro but im so far away from getting it. I think im just going to buy a Civic sedan 7th generation. should be around 10-15k. I dont mind breaking the barrier abit for something thats worth it.

If you want something cheap with all the fruit then you can't go past the Aristo at the moment. They have everything + 2JZ power! 8)

Example

And for 15K you could get an even better one...
