Gen 3 Rx7's are awesome but you should have a fair bit of money in the bank if the engine pops and for general maintence.

I test drove one recently and was very impressed but Im going to hold off on getting one for awhile till my income goes up with what I have planned.

Go to ausrotary.com and www.nopistons.com - there is a sticky in the 3rd gen section that tells you what reliabilty mods you have to do to keep it all good. ie AST, fan mod and a couple of other things.

Good luck, feel free to add me to msn if you need a hand.

thanks for the tip. Like yourselve I may just wait until everything settles and I am still working on my s13 at the moment, but after I build it up to keep it on par with an evo I want to start working on another project. I was thinking of getting a s15 but than thought it would be better getting something different and feel different.

Pretty much the way I think of it, when anyone gets a rx 7 they either have the money rolling in or they are single :D

Bit of a late response but i went form a S14a to a fd and i love it...

sure it drinks a bit more fuel than other cars but its the best ive had so far...

it does need a bit more care as well but nothing enthused owners wouldnt do...

i dont have alot of coin and im in a relationship and im doing just fine!!!

If you do a couple of precautionary mods and listen to other fd owners who have had the car for longer then its all good :D

Just to gee you up :P

i went from (and i loved my s14a)

To be honest...no i dont drive it as often as the i did with the s14a i probably do about 200km a week if im lucky...usually i will just take it for a drive on a saturday and that will be it...

I built the car to be circuit raced and thats where most of the driving will be done....other than that i do enjoy driving it but sometimes its not practical...

what do you mean by gf?? a real one  if so, i have a real one and yes she isnt that bad...she actually enjoys the fd and is trying to drive it...she bought a deck for me as well :o

Im 25 dude....just enjoy the hobby you love....if she dont like the car....get rid of her 8)

Yeah luckly she isnt against me into performance cars and buying the mags and the dvds each month, as well as always keep on researching about cars. She said that if I concetrated on my studies as much as I do with cars I would be a PHD student by now ahahah

Its that no matter what kind of girl u have its going to take some money for dates and also spending time with her and etc. I personally believe that both can work. My friend's gf is into cars too now and she drives a type R now. Maybe a little push and nudge and she may be driving a s15 and I can just watch in the passage side!!! :D

wow what have u been feeding her? Thats great wish I was in that postion. But back on the case of the FD, I was just thinking about the costs of build ups for instance when u buy a s15
the initial price would be cheaper than an rx7 and with the extra money it can be spend on mods. For instance the extra $10000 to $12000 is very useful to upgrade the engine with tomei pistons, canrods, HKS turbo uopgrade, injectors and etc. But the fact is in my opinion that there is less rx 7 on the roads and if u have the right amount of money it would make a s15 look like a tin can. (No offence to anyone). By end of this year or next year I wanted to get a new car after I finished up with my s13 project.

Even though I love seeing a s15 and driving one would be cool, I just feel that driving something alittle different would be cool. And also my gf thinks that an FD would be cool too. So I guess I have to listen to her and do the right thing!!!

If you're worried about where the money is gonna come from for the petrol or anything along those lines...my advice is to not get a FD....

they need alot more maintenance than the nissans....

my car has just gotten back on the road after a one year rebuild and i was at the point many times of wanting to sell cause it was causing too much dramas....

a build for example ranges from 5k where the rotors and housings are still usable....if not the price will range from the 9k to 15k mark depending on seals, ports etc....

a properly done single conversion in a fd with a rebuild will be around the 20K mark i shit you not.....

so if its bang for your buck...i will wholeheartedly recommend you get that S15...if you're ready to go thru alot of frustrating and painful moment get the fd lol....both cars will have their problems...but for some reason,....the fd loves to have everything drop its guts at once!!
