Have a look at the photo.

Its got "Skyline" written on it, after Carlos Ghosn said the new one would just be a "GT-R".


And 450ps is sweet fuck all. I'm hoping that if it runs a VQ and it expects to earn its "supercar" status, it'll make at least 550ps. Maybe even 600.

The APS TT kit puts out 380hp (so 386ps) at the tyres, with an unopened VQ35DE. And I know guys that have daily driven theirs for 2 years, and done a couple of track session / skidpans etc without issue.

So if you allow for drivetrain loss being a percentage rather than an absolute figure, that's around 500ps at the flywheel. Even if you assume that the drivetrain absorbs the same number of kilowatts at the stock output and the modified output (which I don't think is the case) that's still a touch over 450ps.

And Nissan can't manage to even match that with an extra 200cc of displacement and with a properly built engine? The VQ35DE isn't exactly a boost-friendly engine, in stock form. And the APS kit feels as smooth as a stock S15 in terms of power delivery so its not like its working hard to make those numbers.

600ps? The GTR is not a supercar.

But those are just numbers, and we all knew about the numbers that the previous GTR's/RB26DETT put out.

The numbers were artificially low because of the 280ps agreement the manufacturers had with the government regarding engine outputs on passenger cars.

Since that's no longer the case, we should be able to expect future cars to publish true figures.

that is true, but even at whatever power the stock engines made, they were all built with a higher intended output (to suit group A racing), surely they wouldnt lay out all their cards on the table just like that (although the 350z's final output was a bit of an anti climax)

Alan hit the nail fair on the head.

The GTR will be a GTR. Not a skyline.

A few different models perhaps??

A few magazines rated the R34 against the porsche a while back. I can't remember which model it was. But the Line got its arse handed to it on a plate by several publications. From what I have heard it won't be happening again.
As far as im concerned what we see here is yet another "story" Untill I see an official release date put up on nissan's intranet and have documentation about the vehicle in my hand I won't beleive a thing
