I'm getting bored with the S14 and i'm contemplating selling it to
get a MR2 SW20 Turbo. I've always wanted one, but i don't know much about it.

Has anyone driven one and able to give me an evaluation compared to the Silvia series?
I don't know anyone who has one so i can't ask them. I'm currently signing up to some Toyota forums to ask but my membership requests are being "evaluated".

Cheers
Steven.

I moved from a 92 silvia s13 NA to a 91 MR2

If you after a turbo MR2.. look for a gen 3 (3SGTE) motor... They go hard but because the engines mid-mounted, cooling, FMIC, and access to mods are hard and more expensive to do... i wont discuss this coz i have not experienced driving a turbo Mr2.

To be honest, the mr2 is a glorified camry, minus 2 doors, minus back seat and the engine in the trunk...

I have the first Generation JDM NA and i have grown to like them.

The first gen experience problems with the synchro in the gearbox. It is quite normal for a a 10-15yr old car.

There are heaps of variants with the mr2 - GT/GTS, Aus SPec/JDM, HArdtop/targa, Turbo/NA...

It is a great summer car if you have the targa... the majority of them leak but its like a $3 fix if you know wat you are doing...

you have to think what you are doing aswell, being a 2 seater, saying no to scrubs is quite easy...

They are just as reliable as the s13... but power wise and after market bits are scarce...

IMO if you want something different, buy an MR2... its a poor mans Ferrari... :)

i like the way the mr2 looks!
Being a 2 seater isnt really a problem considering nobody ever sits in the rear of my car [ no freaken room! ].
Oh do you live in the area? can i have a look at ur car?

Car: Used to have s14a 200sx :(
One of my mates used to have an mr2 and i drove it sometimes.
We got a fair bit of attention in the mr2 which can be good at times.
Good with the targa roof if you get that model.
I think they are a great looking little sports car. It was nice to drive, with a nice gearbox and driving arrangement. You must remember how impractical they are with space of the cabin and the boot however. But yes, I do think they are great little bargain car and do look sexy. And if you are big on putting big stereos in cars, you might be up against it if you want to go the mr2. There is space for 6x9s and thats all we could find :(
