hey all, now that I've sold my audi and am taking some time out of cars so i can focus on some other projects, I've decided to buy a cheap runaround for a bit. I was previously looking at an N13 pulsar Q, but now i'm willing to spend a bit more and get an 1992 N14 pulsar Q (with the SR20DE in it)..

so, question is - anything specific i should keep an eye/ear out for when checking them out? any inherent problems i should kno about?

thanks in advance!

Most of them have cracked dashes due to parking under the sun. Don't settle for a cracked one if the owner tells you it's normal, because there are many that's in good condition.

Clunking CVs, engine mounts, and your usual check for previous damage.

Timing chain noises are plentyful. Usual SR dramas

As people have said the dash and dash surrounds crack very easily and are pretty expensive new.

Roof linings fall down and door trims fall apart.
Carpet wears under the pedals and the steering wheel grip begins to loose on the wheel.
Red paint fades Very badly

But your missing a cylinder too :P

The N14/15 SSS does go pretty well.

Buy another import though, the pulsar is as boring as the GTR is exciting really.

The price of N14 SSS's ha dropped considerably as well.

I know of a reasonable one that sold a week back for $5500

A friend of mine just picked up an N14 Q for 2,300 off an old lady who had owned it majority of its life.

I was looking for an N14 recently myself and found most are lowered to the bejebus on 18''s and suspension is shot. goodluck finding a half decent one!!! =)

oh and P.S - Nothing wrong with my "Big red car" =P

Bargain!!

I have loads of SSS running gear listen, if you need parts for what ever you buy.
Actually if you do get one let me know I have an engine somewhere that would be right at home with you.
Its still an SR20DE but a pretty cranky one.

I had a little red car once, but it clipped the wall at oran park and was kinda bent.

how are these n14 sss compared to s13 silvia na both in straight line and track/twisties wise? would the sss outrun the silvia?

I have owned both and although I prefer the s13, the sss was deifintely quicker in a straight line, through the twisties would depend a little on suspension mods.

That said I am selling my sss to get my 3rd s13 cos I like them more
