anyone know what it would cost to have an alternator replaced/serviced.
thought i'd give a different mob a go and they've wash the engine bay out, and looks like they've fried it.reading at 17volts........
car is a 96 mirage

If you can get the thing out yourself it will be a pretty cheap repair as it's likely just the reg that has gone. Any auto electrician worth the name will be able to source parts and repair it for you, or may even have a change over item in stock as mitsu alternators are pretty much on everything (including Nissans)

yeah i'm pretty sure it's the regulator, hmmm but still, i think it shouldnt cost me anything considering they soaked it, i don't see how squirting the engine bay is part of a service any way, especially when i only wanted a wheel alignment, rotors machined, and new oils.
