can anyone say intrusive? I wonder where they're going to draw the line between 'helping' and overseeing.

Thats so true.

We have had a few people come in complaining about the VDC system in the new nissans.
Its not to that extreme but when you are predicting the cars next move and the VDC all of a sudden takes over it can be a worry.
Like the new self drive systems that look to be becoming common place in the new breed of europe vehicles, They even predict when your going to crash and do everything they can to avoid the accident which in reality can put the passegers in more danger than what they were originally in.

to be honest,I don't mind a few systems like ABS,TRC and VDC in modern cars,PROVIDED that they are able to be FULLY disabled by the switch on the dash.

every once in a while someone who can actually drive the vehicle properly might pilot it,and they're going to want to do the driving themselves, not leave it up to the blind, deaf and dumb on-board computers.

My thoughts exactly!!!

Make the vehicle safe, dont make the vehicle drive it's self safely.

If we wanted a vehicle that can drive it's self, we would go and catch a cab, or jump on a bus (not that it drive's it's self, but we wouldn't need to do anything to get to our destination).

TRC and ABS, both great features, but if you know what your doing, you can get a better launch without breaking traction than the TRC system, and you can pull up[ quicker WITHOUT ABS, than the system can by activating it while you plant your foot to the ground.

As with everything, these systems are designed to keep the dumbest 10% safe, it's like thr RX8, if it sees the back wheels sp[inning, but not he front, ir assumes "traction loss", and if the difference is great enough, it assumes "hellkies are being performed", and shuts the engine down, starts disabling your power, great system to stop hoons wrecking the car (even though they have paid for it, and have every right to wreck it (within the law)), but what if you parked on the grass one night, it bucketted with rain, the next morning, you accelerate to get off the grass, but because it sees the back moving, but not the front, it shuts down (top feature mazda).

If you drop enough rubber at the back, it will kill power, and the car will become a bastard to drive. It will also log the activity, and next Mazda service, they will start voiding driveline warranty, such as tail shaft, diff, gearbox.
