Everybody thinks S13's are budget drifters but never thought bout the VW bettle did they?
Wonder if its a fluke photo or they actually drift these things

I think it is a photochop, if you look at his front windshield, I think they forgot to tint a section (above the steering wheel) or it might just be me :P
*shrugs*

That bit with no tint is actaully an area missing out of the drivers side window for air.

I recon its a bettle race and one keen dude got the back end out! :D

What ever has been done it looks pretty serious. Has a cage and all fitted by the looks of it.

Some one must have had too much time on their hands :P

It's real, there is a drift battle every year at nurburgring in germany, it's been going on for a few years now and the cars in it are generally pretty interesting. I made a post about that car once ages ago it's porche 996 motored (i think) and only makes about 150kw as far as i remember. As with all drifting it's in your suspension not in your engine :). A worked bug with the suspension to suit would probably drift quite well but maybe be a bit hard to catch at times due to the motor in the back, but then again maybe not since the bug motor is light and air cooled and the petrol tank is at the front balancing it all out.

Anyway i have been in a 69 VW fast back, a kind of porshe style vw with the 1600cc engine in the back. Its tail would step out alot, im sure if u got used to it u could drift quite well.

So there is more than one bettle drifter :D

I rekon they should can that mirage cup thing and run drift beetles instead. Probably just as slow but there would be surely be more accidents

Just what i was thinking, imagine how much a stripped beetle would weigh...700kg if that?

boxer motor, rear engine, rwd... plenty tail happy!!!

btw windscreens aren't supposed to be tinted, whether there's a section mising or not (presuming it's ADR and complies)
