I've just been reading about the new Megane Turbo 225....
It's got 165kw and 300Nm which is claimed to get it to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds. The engine is hooked up to a Nissan developed 6-speed manual
transmission.
It even has Brembo brakes.

I'm guessing it's FWD?

It looks pretty good if you "like big butts".

the current megane is FWD, i highly doubt they'd change it to RWD now, esp in the typical FWD hatch style

its excellent to see that nissan's parent company are still developing turbo cars.. there is still hope for us nissan lovers.

there was an industry rumour that the next pulsar performance model (SSS equalivant) will be based on the megane - so maybe the next pulsar will share the same engine...?

id think it'll be FWD also, if u see a pic of the engine, it looks like it was designed to be droped in horizontal, so ahha i dunno

I think there could be a slight chance of it being AWD so it could give the VW R32 a run for its money...

*cough* or whatever that saying is. *cough*

Slight chance. But is the Megane's floorpan set up to handle a driveshaft? VW obviously had no issues with the Golf, since it shares underpinnings with the Audi A3 and TT (both of which are "premium" products that must have 4WD) so the parts, design, etc are all there.

165kW through the front wheels, though.....you're going to be heading towards the boundaries of what a FWD car can handle at that power level. It might end up as another Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, that is a rocket sled in a straight line, and a sled around the corners.

On the plus side, the French tend to be a lot better at setting up the suspension on FWD vehicles than most, and so they might be able to build a high powered FF car that doesn't suck once the roads get twisty.

Still, once the owners start modifying and boosting their engines, Renault's hard work at chassis setup will pretty much become irrelevant.

Isnt there also a crazy V6 model with a mid/rear mount setup?

Not for the Megane, no.

There is one for the Clio.

I've seen then enw pulsar, and it looks somewhere between the Megane and a Puegeot 307. Looks quite nice. There's rumours the the "sports" version maybe be AWD ;) Sr20ve perhaps?? Sr20vet would be nice :D

Considering that the facts are that the SR20 has been discontinued for quite some time, because it can't meet emissions laws, I'd say they were only rumours.

Exactly my point. The VE's are still production, so an AWD SR20VET powered pulsar would be nice, and may not so far fetched....
