I just got my car back from compliance. The compliancer got a weighbridge ticket for rego.

My cars weight: 1220kg...

Thats the same that my sil80 weighed in at!

I didn't think an SR would make that much difference..!!

Has anybody else here had their cars weighed?

My last 180 came in at 1160kg, this one should be similar. 12220kg is quite impressive for a seemingly larger car.

12220kg? I admit I thought it looks heavy, but not THAT heavy!

My car is pretty fat :(, i think it was around 1260-1270kg, or 1340 with me in the car.
Full power options and power sunroof etc. By the way my car was weighed with a full tank of fuel and all fluids, spare tyre etc.
I want to strip a few things out of it that i don't need (cruise control box etc) and weigh it again.

Oh yeah my mates stock 1992 180sx with cat back zaust and volk rims came in at 1280kg with half tank of fuel.

my gaz GL auto w/ air con weighed in at 1080 with a virtually stripped out interior, mild steel half cage, 3/4 tank of fuel and full-sized spare.

i'd be happy if i could get it down to 1050. i still have a bit more sound deadening and inslualtion to get out (it's all behind and under the dash), as well as the a/c, heater box, auto trans and a lot of excess wiring.

Any power options? Sounds like the weight i want to be but couldn't be bothered getting to.
The CA20e must benefit from not having to haul all that weight around tho.

I think some stuff like big front mount intercoolers add a fair bit of weight, along with the extra piping that goes along with them.

Mild steel exhausts should be heavier than the smaller factory ones, one reason to go stainless or $titanium$.

I think to take my car lighter would need some specialist gear, like exotic metals, lexan windows, and light weight body panels.

180's are generally heavier than S13's maybe thats why your Sil80 is the same weight as the ceffy. From a cast iron block to alloy would make a reasonable difference plus you got rid of all the crappy HICAS gear, No A/C yet. Hopefully it won't be as much of a land crab as before the conversion :P

1300kg... pfft... fear my land barge!! my lexus is 1780kg!!!

and Lawsy, stainless steel is heavier than mild... titanium is certainly lighter though, but still fairly expensive.

it's quite easy to get weight out of cars,it all depends on how much you're willing to do without, and how much noise you can put up with.

Just removing my rear seat (not for weight purposes it was just out) increased my interior noise by a shed load :o
Not to good a trade off me thinks since i can lift the entire back seat with about 3 fingers.

my car weighs pretty much bang on 1100kg at the moment.

I should be able to drop a fair bit more out of it once I put the other race seat in and remove the carpets and sound deadening.
There's not much more metal stuff to remove easily but I can probably find some stuff to hit with the angle grinder :P
