ehheh yeh i agree with ya mokompri....
is gtir gearbox like wrx???
cause wrx gearbox r the worst....
is it cause their 4wd thats y they r easy 2 blow???
or cause ppl launch them at like 5 -6 and it blows up??

the gtir ones apparently take a bit more of a beating, not sure exactly how much though

as said above by dumhead its both, the GTR just has a meaty g'box that can handle launches at high rpm and still survive
since 4wd gives a good launch on high rpm and bogs at low rpm, its a bit useless, you have to either granny it to keep the g'box or do a high rpm launch and risk blowing it to bits

hi guys i just wanna know which one of these cars would u pick....
r32 gtr, rx7 series 6, twin turbo supra, s15 or a r34 gtt and why?
thanks

supra the rear looks good but its bulky and big so i would look funny in it, r34 looks mad but if i can get gtr, y not. r32 gtr, yeh that would be mad, but im kinda heading to newer cars, for track and thrasher would be good, yeh rx7 looks really cool from all angles but i dun know much about rotaries so i would'nt touch them, last of all s15, well my name says it all and yeh owning two s14 i love the s15

prefrence in order-
1. s15
2. r34
3. rx7
4. r32
5. supra

I see a lot of people talking about getting something rare, something you don't see around a lot. If there is any advice I can give you on this subject it's that cars that are common are common for a reason. Generally the cars that you always see modified will be the cars that are easily modified, if not because they are built that way, then because their popularity has caused a ridiculous amount of parts to be available.
R32s GTRs are great cars and it is very very easy to fiddle with the ETSC and adjust it to be full time 4WD or indeed any bias at all. The obvious problem is the age (15 years to be precise) and buying one from an importer will mean that you get the 1989 model which is the first ever. Always try to buy the last of a series rather than the first, even if it's an older series because the closer to the end of the series the car is, the more it has been prefected during its saleable life. Obviously there is no other option with the R32 GTR though as there was no AWD performance Skyline preceding it. Later models are unlikely to become available at the current price (<$20,000) as our present government is intending to axe the fifteen year import rule ....bugger.
My recommendation would be to buy a WRX, preferably the MY99 (released in 98 and sold until November 99 ...I think). It will cost you about $20,000 and there are a ridiculous amount of performance parts available, many of them surprisingly cheap. Sure the gearbox might need some aftermarket internals or perhaps an aftermarket replacement but find a place that does the STi 2.5 conversion (you'll find workshops that can supply and fit it for well under a grand) upgrade the injectors, FMIC and turbo. You can easily expect a reliable 400hp without putting too much stress on the motor which makes you a whole lot quicker than a GTR.
You may not like people thinking "oh god another WRX" ...who gives a crap? Don't waste your time thinking about what other people think, and if you don't want your car stolen, when you fit a front mount you can put a bonnet from a non-WRX model on it and take off the WRX badging. Smart arses in S15s and rotaries will be too confused to give chase after you comprehensively smoke them at the lights.
At the end of the day you'll have a very fast, very comfortable car (trust me you will miss having four doors if you buy a coupe, I speak from experience) and you will be able to smoke the vast majority of cars that line you up. There will be prefabricated aftermarket parts to suit your every modifying whim and you won't have to wait six weeks for them to arrive from Japan. Never underestimate the value of buying a car which is delivered to the country in which you live.
Sorry to be such a pragmatist, but you know it makes sense.

P.S. having said all this I'm doing up an S12 ...no excuses, I'm just poor
