Hi Fellow (Club Mac)Mayhem and Guys,
I need some advice or opinions on this car Im interested in getting. Here are some details.

1993 180sx black
2lt turbo (sr20det) 69,000km's
Manual
T04 Hi-Flow Turbo (HI Mount- Rebuilt 1000km ago)
External Wastegate
custom extractors/ hi-mount manifold
custom dump pipe from turbo
Veilside Cat back System (stainless)
Apexi AVC-R boost controller (less than a week old)
K&N pod filter
Boost Gauge
custom stainless air/intake
FET digital auto turbo timer
'Momo Corse' sports steering wheel

The owner says,"Imported from japan 3 months ago and complianced with 65,000km's on the clock. Very clean immaculant car, extremely fast with loads of petential, perfect interior, never run on high boost."

Its about 14.5 grand and in Melb.
What do you guys thing?
From the photos it looks stock with the original alloys and no bodykit.

Any1 had any experience with a T04?
Any good? How much does one cost in the mkt?
Would the standard trans and driveline last long with a T04?
Im in Sydney, I dont wana fly all the way there and buy a lemon. Can I rely on those vehicle inspection guys to do the job?

Let me know!
Thanks guys.

Yeah sounds awesome but the guy must be desperate or its a dud. Get a vehicle inspection by the NRMA or whoever. Personally i would never buy a car i hadn't test driven or seen. Its only $70 each way or something with Virgin... could be worth it. Mate there are the options - your call.

I was going to say that!
Plus the fact that NRMA inspections are a hell waste of time, good for a general idea but they really dont care so they dont bother checking it out really well.
(i've had MANY problems with them)
If anyone wants to get a car checked out in sydney, go to sydney vehicle check, they are more expensive but spend three hours inspecting, poking and prodding the car before you buy it!
I agree with QIK 180 get plane ticket there, you might not need one back. If you dont feel you know enough pay for a freind who knows to go with you, it would be worth your while! Remeber wou are buying a CAR and a worked one at that, not a stolen stereo or anything YOU want to see it!

I know the guy that built the turbo and manifold. The turbo is old-tech and is quite laggy. The exhaust manifold is only made out of exhaust pipe and not proper 3mm steam-pipe. I will say that the turbo is like brand new as I saw it when my mate bought the turbo.
220rwkw.... hmmm... dunno about that.. certainly not with standard injectors.
Also, the turbo is NOT highflowed, rather a standard (small) t04

But, for 14k it is still a bargain

You have actually seen the car that I am referring to above?
Were you in Melb to see it or was the car in Sydney?
Is the guy selling the car a friend?
Can you please give me more details?
I also had the impression the T04 gave better performance than the T28.

I saw the turbo combination only. It was on a friends car. This guy bought it off my friend.
T04 is better than T28 for outright power, but is slow to come on boost

Any idea if the standard transmission and driveline will stand the constant pounding fr the T04??
Also, will there be a need to upgrade the stock I/C ?
Any chance of detonation??

The standard box and diff in SR20DET 180sx are quite tough. You would really need to abuse them to break them.
If you keep the car below about 14psi, it shouldn't detonate even with the standard cooler. A T04 will be pumping in air colder at this boost lever than a T25/28 will be, so the cooler isn't as much of a factor

hey dude
just thought id put my 2 cents in here.
am looking for big turbo, have stock S13 with original manifold and dump... so if you dont like the idea of the T04 running off stock injectors and (unless me blind, no front mount) we could work something out, drop us a line if you would like some cash back from your 14.5
