Car: 180SX SR20DET 1995
I just installed a K&N pod air filter (removed standard box air filter and emission control unit - blocked the associated intake hose with a cork). All is well and sounds great *FLUTTER* but now the car is only running 5psi boost (instead of 10psi) and feels slower too!? :-? Is this normal?

could of the installation of the POD jarred some of the piping and caused a minor boost leak somewhere?

sounds like you plugged the hose coming out of the boost control solenoid. It normally goes into the side of the rubber pipe from the AFM to the turbo.
If it's plugged you can't run more than wastegate boost pressure.

Otherwise check for boost leaks - usually there's noticeable hissing under boost and running rich (black smoke) if there's a leak.

The Answer:
One of the pipes came off (boost gauge T-piece -> EGR valve).
It was fixed by Joshua from ProConcept and is now boosting to 10-11psi once again!! :D
