Hey i just got my 180sx and realised the boost was set to 12psi, just wondering if it is fine to be driving around with such high boost on stock turbo, should i change it to 9 or 10?

from what i know, which isnt much, 12psi is about the highest while been safe on a stock turbo.

congrats on the car, what mods are on the car?

11 psi is safer, thats how much I run on my 200sx s14. Boost does spike and it will spike on cold nights so you might want to turn down the boost one pound and have a safe boost level, I dont think you will lose much power at all.

yeah well a FMIC makes all the difference doesnt it. Lower is safer for engine and turbo, higher is faster. During winter should be fine maybe turn it down a bit in summer i reckon. Anyone else

if your worried about over boosting, then try 7/8psi or naturally aspirated transport.

mate 12psi is fien for the stock turbo but dont go any higher .. on cold nights its ok to go upa little like 1 pound but it it spikes keep your boost down.. iv'e had like nearly all boost controllers and i know what spikes the most so 12 will be fine just be carefull 12 does throw you around..

lol i was going against you i was just trying to say that he should be worrying about detonation with the standard intercooler before the turbo. Cause i think his engine will suffer before turbo can reach its max. But 12psi should be fine in winter, im probably running something like 10-12psi right now.
