so... i have had my car back on the road for about 2 weeks since a rebuild and some other stuff, and was laying in bed the on thursday night, heard a car start and thought to myself 'that sounds like my car' bounced out of bed in my boxer and ran out the front to see my baby smash the gutter around the corner from my house, it wouldnt move and by the time i got there the had legged it and being bare foot, in my boxer shorts and slightly overweight i was in position to chase them...

cops turned up and tried to blame me for it saying i was just trying to skip getting a fine i said 'are you c*nts serious? have a f*cking look at me' needless to say they werent much help.

i towed it home with the left hand rear wheel locked solid threw some clothes on and inspected the damage: snapped all but 2 spokes completely off the centre, destroyed the lower control arm, cracked the hud into 2 peices and put a dent in the rear cradle in at the mounting point for the rear of the control arm...

i drove to sss automotive in sydney on friday and picked up a control arm AND hub for $200 as the bearing was buggered, came back and bought my mates wheels off him and put it all back together, it drives straight still the only thing i can see is there is less camber than the other side but now need to change my rear cradle but the wheel aligners should be able to line her all up hopefully (everything in rear is adjustable).

the only bad thing now is that i had $1000 put away for rego next month and had to spend it fixing it instead.. :(
not very happy but i look on the bright side, they could have made off with the WHOLE CAR!!! thank f*ck for boost and inexperienced drivers :)

Sorry to hear about that mate. I've had two cars stolen in the past myself,it's not a nice feeling.

You are better off than most getting it back immediately, and somewhat intact though, something to be thankful for...

I have some 16's here that I bought for no particular reason the other week from another forum member that can go very cheaply if you need wheels. Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

Glad to hear you got it going again straight away. Hopefully the damage isn't too severe.

actually been looking on the brake conversion thread trying to work out which setup i can use for front and rear that takes the least building, seen on there somewhere that one or the 4 spot front caliper setups will bolt straight on then just gotta re-drill the rotors to suit 4 stud, just gotta read a bit more...

The callipers bolt straight on,that is true.

You can either re-drill the discs,or do a 5 stud conversion, which is good for other reasons, mainly much higher availability of wheels.

The brake lines are the only bit that needs to be modded. If you can get the donor car's lines and use those it's best, but you can also get aftermarket braided ones. Many have drilled out the olive in the calliper and cut the banjo bolt down and run is against the side of the calliper, but I don't recommend that option.

oh cool, i just bought new wheels off me mate so would probably rather stay 4 stud, now to find some s14 calipers/lines and buy some rotors :)

I'd suggest R32 or R33 GTS-t callipers over the S14/S15 ones as they're alloy,and lighter.

oh righto, they still bolt into the 180sx caliper holes?

Yep. Everything except the brembos and R34 GTT callipers bolt on.

F@#K!!! THERE GOES THE BOTTOM END...

so here i was driving along, in a 70 zone and heard a sound like a rock in my tire, then it got louder and i pretty much knew what is was straight away, wasnt too loud though so i shut it off and rolled into the closest servo, checked my oil, water and everything else hoping something was low...

nothing, so started her back up (being 2 hours from home), and now it sounds like someone is flogging my motor with a frigging hammer :/
$1400 and 6.5hr wait for the towtruck and it got home

one thing after another. hopefully it hasnt done much damage, the engine rebuilder down here quoted 2700 IF i dont need a crank

Who rebuilt your motor? Surely it must still be under warranty if it was a proper engine builder
