Hi There,

I am hoping you might be able to help me out with some information about Nissan Silvia 180sx Type X also known as 240sx which was only made for Japanese Domestic market. What I need to know is the following information :

1.0 Whether this car is now a collector's item
2.0 How many were made annually

Reason for those information is because I am trying to import a 180sx under special interest car law in NZ and it will to meet following criteria also found here :

http://www.nzta.govt.nz/consultation/st ... ems/docs/d raft-steering-systems-amendment.pdf

To qualify for a special interest vehicle permit, a vehicle (in addition to meeting certain other requirements), must be a vehicle that [LTNZ] considers:

a) to have historic value (i.e. of great or lasting importance); or
b) meet three of the following four requirements:
i. the vehicle (or make, model and submodel) is identified as a collector’s item in 1 of 12 approved automobile magazines or associated websites;
ii. the vehicle (or make, model and submodel) was manufactured in annual volumes of 20,000 or less;
iii. the vehicle is (and was manufactured as) a two-door coupe or convertible;
iv. the vehicle is (and was manufactured as) a high-performance vehicle.

If any one here can help me out in any way that will be highly appreciated as you can see I really want to get one of them imported here in NZ and make it road legal for weekend drive.

Thanks.

Considering there are dozens on trademe.co.nz I do not think you will have any issues.

i think the 180sx falls into the 2door hi performance category rather then a collectors item.
