Yesterday i attempted to change my rear brakes. Little did i know how frustrating it can be with the wrong tools. Question: When winding the rotor clockwise (to open the caliper) realistically how many times do you have to turn it? I mean i was turning it, but it looked like it wasn't opening at all. I just gave up and put the old pads back on for the moment. I was using the wrong tools - so that wouldn't of helped. Anyone have any advice to make the process easier?

The thread is REALLY fine in those calipers, so it might take 10 full turns or so. Buy a proper piston winder tool from autobarn for $25 and save yourself a bunch of hassle |

The long nose pliers work, except i was turning it and it didn't seem to be getting larger? Ill prob give it another crack tonight cause i have the right tools. I have read: If you get to a point where u are turning the piston and it isn't moving - use a brake tool to apply a little bit of pressure, then continue screwing it clockwise? |

Maybe you shouldnt be doing any thing with brakes if you dont know what your doing... |

Its not that - i have changed the fronts. Except the rear piston is getting to a certain part and not screwing back anymore. Not sure if i should apply some pressure then keep screwing or what? |

Yes, apply a little pressure whilst turning, this helps heaps. Use a g-clamp as the piston can sill rotate under it. The piston should come flush with the housing or near enough to it. done this 3 times now works everytime!! Cam. |

if they are getting stuck go back out a few turns and back in... maybe add some lubricant. some times stuff gets in places you dont want it to be and james shit up... maybe that helps.. |

if they get stuck wind them back out this more than likely means the rubber boot is getting squished in between the piston and the caliper lubricant and pressure help greatly when doing this and yeah it does take a while |
