hi, my car's horn did not work from couple days ago, but actually the horns were ok, so i took out the steering wheel and checked out that this part should be the problem is. As i ve changed to nardi steering wheel, so basically i dont have airbag on the steering wheel now and dont need the wires, is there any way to get this part in sydney and i dont know what its name? or just get some other thing to instead of it... i just want my horn work. thx all.

it's called a spiral cable,or by some,a clock spring.

a ring around of your local wreckers would be your best bet.

A word of warning....expensive...

Just got one from Just Jap  (yes i know, first mistake...) about 2 months ago

$110

I was stupid enough to just buy it because i wanted it fixed NOW!!!

You may find a better price elsewhere.

Also make sure you get the right one. It must have the 'F' on it or you'll break
it again because the cables inside are different lengths for different cars

$110 is cheap and i would not argue with that as a new one is around the $450 mark from memory

Also, when you install it, be sure to follow the instructions as they need to be set up properly when installing them

Hey Justin,

As far as I'm aware, it is illegal to have an aftermarket steering wheel with a car that previously had an airbag equipped, but can you still pass a pink slip?

Not that I would do this or have done this, just asking out of curiosity.

Yes,it's illegal.

No,it won't if the guy doing it does the check properly. the light on the dash is the first giveaway. if that's there, but the airbag isn't,alarm bells should go off in the guy's head.

Put it this way.my old stagea had an aftermarket wheel on it,with a proper airbag cancelling nismo boss kit on it,and my boss wouldn't do my pink slips. I had to put the std wheel back on,and go to another workshop to get my rego. the RTA doesn't let examiners check their own cars for obvious reasons...

You can put an aftermarket one on as long as you get it engineered!!!

you can't engineer a non-airbag wheel on a car that had an airbag as standard.

you can engineer an aftermarket airbag wheel fitment to a car that had a different airbag wheel if it's been done properly.

airbags are covered by ADRs and are required these days. in short,if the car had one from the factory,it has to be there.
engineers can approve a lot of changes, but the removal of SRS systems isn't one of them.

Sorry about the late reply....

The 'F' indicates the type/length of ribbon cable inside.

If you follow the instructions written on the front when installing you should have no problems.

NOTE: if you get a different letter, the ribbon cable may be longer or shorter and wound a different way. Chances are you'll break it again...
