Looking at the 180sx market these days I'm starting to think that bringing my 180sx back home is a stupid idea. Basically what do you guys think, do you GENUINELY think that I could get $16k for my car in the current market.
Basically it's a 1992 180sx with a full (getting sprayed now) OEM Kouki (Type X to most Aussies...) bodykit, tail lights and so on and a bunch of mechanical mods.
Basically think of it as looking like this car below (my 180sx is TV3 brilliant blue so almost the same colour) and with the following mods. Also would plan to sell registered in NSW.

IHI BB turbo
stainless manifold
full 3" exhaust
nismo 555 injectors
tuned rom
nismo fuel pump
7 point cage
Bride Brix and Xax seats
Nardi steering wheel
C's short shift
Metal head gasket
CST Zero 1 coilovers
Tein tension rods
Cusco rear arms
Cusco swaybars
Cusco tension rod brace
Cusco brake master brace
Veilside strut braces
All braided stainless brake and clutch lines
Project Mu pads all round
Type M 4 pots
17x8/9 Imperi wheels sitting out nice and wide
20mm front over fenders
flared rear guards
Kouki 180sx (type X) front bar, side skirts, rear pods, rear wing, front lip, rear lights
60mm greddy electronic oil temp, water temp, oil pressure and boost gauges
Nismo 2 way LSD
ORC super single clutch
HKS front mount intercooler
Koyo radiator
Greddy oil cooler kit
Kazama catch can
Relocated wiring looms (so the front wheels don't chew them up.
Resprayed in TV3 brilliant blue (the odd scratch here and there but pretty nice paint really).
Blitz SSBC II
HKS type II turbo timer
Vented fibreglass bonnet
Ganador mirrors

Likely some more that I've forgotten...

It makes around 300ps (it has a bit left in it, the turbo is set at 1 bar). Realisticly I don't think I could be bothered bringing it back if I only get $13-14k for it, it'd have to be at least $15-16 to make it worth my while. Thoughts?

Pics, the first pic is how it looked before, the second pic is how it looks now (basically spraying all the parts etc etc) and the 3rd pic is the interior and finally the 4th pic is how it will look to give anyone an idea

for the price and the mods you have, $15-16k isn't not too much to ask for.

what other options do you have other than bringing it back? strip it for parts or sell it as its there?

Very nice...bring it back & keep it.
I think you'd get close to what you want if you did try to sell it....after fighting off all the pelicans that would offer you 10 grand for it.
Good luck either way.

Interesting, going by the for sale ads I've seen around lately I thought I'd really struggle to get the asking price!
The car isn't actually quite as clean as it looks in the photos. There are some scuffs on the paint and the odd scratch, mainly on the rear quarters from flailing tyres.
It's pretty good overall though, the chassis rails are straighter than my Silvia, but the jacking points are all bent up (typical of a previous owner who couldn't actually use the factory jack, a fairly common thing...).
The other option is to sell it complete, or almost complete here, it still has shakken (inspection) for another year, rego and also a kai (modified) title. So it has some good shiz for the market here as well.

looking at your last post,I reckon that unless you really want to keep and drive it here, you may as well sell and leave it in Japan before you come back.

with a year's rego and the mod plate,it'll get snapped up quickly enough.
having some nice gear on it already would help too. maybe one of the small yards there will buy it,or a yank on one of the bases?
a ready to go car is a good proposition for those guys, and they have the cash to spend!

this is a useless post but i've said it before and i'll say it again, i adore this car neb. but if you think that bringing it back is too risky in terms of your financial position, then do what justin said.

Yeah a Yank won't buy it, they have Y reg which costs next to nothing and they can get cars on base really cheap when guys ship out. I guess the best plan is try and sell it here for a good price, then if that fails bring it home or sell it to Europe.

i rekon it would be best off to strip it back to standard, take all the parts home to aus & sell them here & sell the car in japan.

180's/s13 are getting quite hard to sell these days...

hey neb...

to be honest with you i got problems selling my 96 genuine type X with just about the same mods as you take or give....

its currently standing at 17k and not many intrest and with the price of S15s droping too i cant see that helping the 180's get 16-17 for.

id say only bring that car back to australia if you are intending to drive it or strip it off parts and then sell it as a standard car.

Yeah, I saw that, although your first asking price was a bit silly. Good luck at 16-17k though, that would be about what it's truly worth me thinks.

I did also notice the price of S15s getting lower and lower, they are actually more expensive in Japan than they are in Oz now some of the time I think!

I personally find the 16K mark is a bit high but somewhat reasonable for such modifications however convince a buyer for a 93 SR engine at such price will be a challenge, so as it has been said before if you have no intentions of making it your daily here i strongly recommend selling it there, most likely you will end-up with more than 16K!

Haha no not a chance. I'll be asking far less for it here due to not having to pay for all that shipping/tax etc. I'm planning to try for about $8-9k here.
