I recently got my car imported and has climate control. The display works and the fan seems to work but its just blowing hot air?? No matter what temp you set it too it continues to blow hot air. The guy who complianced my car last week helped me take apart the console and try figure out what it was. All the wires are there and connected fine. The only suggestion he had was that it must be the "climate control sensor"??? A little thingy kinda just behind the tiny little vent at the bottom of the console. Does that sound right or could it be someting else? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

down in the centre console. there is a small vent between the gearstick and the bottom of the stereo opening. thats the air temp sensor for the air con. its broken. mine was broken. i just unplugged it so it worked cold on 18deg but anything above that would turn on the heater on max. so it was either hot or cold. the car is gone now so i dont care lol

Not sure but i think the climate control sensor would only be used when you switch it to auto mode. Well thats what i assume anyway???

Thanks for that. I dont think mine is broken, i think its just not there. My car was bought with the headunit taken out so maybe it was accidentally pulled out with it. Do you or anyone else have any idea of where i can get my hands on one of these air temp sensors? Would a normal auto air conditioning place have one or would i have to go through like all jap auto disposals or something?

My car has the same hot air problem when I got it, the wires were snipped to the little sensor.

Note: When they are disconnected the air con will pump hot air only, when they are connected backwards the air con will pump only cold air.

Obviously when they are correct everything will work fine.

Pull off your cente console trim and you will see if the sensor is there or not, if it is then trace the wires back to look for the break.

I took out the centre console and looked where that little vent is and couldn't see any sensor. I'm not exactly sure what i'm looking for but im pretty sure it wasn't there. There is a black sorta tube inside leading up to the hole. Does that have anything to do with it? Does anyone know where to buy one of these air temp sensors from??

Mine was there and connected, but the electrical connection between the air con and sensor was rooted.

Just run the air con diagnotics, no need to take apart everthing and check it. Need to park you car in the sun, or shine a light on the dashboard sunlight sensor while doing diags, or else an error results.

no it should be just before the flexible part of the tubing. on the outlet end where it screws onto the centre console.

anyway if its not there, thats your problem. you might have to call a wrecker to get one, or find another S13 in your street and flog his one :P

i also have this prob .. but mine is an issue of the electrical pulse not getting to the motor which switches from hot/cold air .. so it was stuck on hot air .. but i can manually push it to cold air

check that the motor which is under the dash on the passenger right side is switching across from hot/cold too !

I had a look and i think i can see the motor you're talking about. Kinda got a little lever sorta thing. I tried pushing the little plastic arm sideways but it wont budge, feels like if i push to hard it will snap off.
